Down Under - The Tour ContinuesSo far, so good. First little series of shows went well. Yesterday, flew in to Perth from Adelaide. The Dropkick Murphys were on the flight with me and we got to have a few laughs together. The flight was interesting as we found ourselves circling Perth while storms raged below. Lightning hit the plane in mid air - don't remember having had that happen before. They had played Adelaide the same night as us, and we were also playing on the same night in Perth. Our show went well, although it would have been fun to catch their show, we obviously couldn't make that happen. But it was great sharing a few good times with some guys from home.

The St. Kilda gig was a little under-attended, but was a good show. Grabbed a pic of the sun setting from the balcony of the Cosmopolitan Hotel. This is the same town where Abe got the pictures that would end up being the cover for the "Live In Sydney" CD.

CLOSING IN ON THE END OF THE TOURWith only a few gigs left on the other side of the world, I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the year-long SOLO TOUR tunnel. It's been great down here with good friends and adventures. Not really looking forward to the trek home so much as arriving there. Talk about long flights, this is gonna be a seriously challenging series of seemingly never-ending planes and terminals.

On the other hand, it ain't like the old days when it took months to sail around, so I'm not complaining too much Maybe I'll just sleep thru the whole thing...

In addition I find some of the signs down under somewhat misleading...

SOLO REUNION TOUR COMES TO AN ENDIt's OVER! The ARLO GUTHRIE SOLO REUNION TOUR - TOGETHER AT LAST (with the original band) has come to an end after a year long trek that literally took me around the world. It ended at the Seymour Centre in Sydney, Australia (where "Live in Sydney" was recorded almost four years ago to the day).

I walked out into the Sydney night through a backstage tunnel, and looked up with thanks and gratitude for all the people I'd met and the places I'd been during the last year. In all likelihood, there won't be another tour like that. I made a lot of new friends, and got to visit some old ones. Lots of younger people showed up at all the gigs - Haven't seen that in a while!
Thanks to all who made this last year possible! Onward!
