As the year winds down, and the holidays are upon us, I'm planning on celebrating a year well done, and a new one yet to come. I got the hat anyway...

EVEN MORE MERRY AND HAPPY EVERYTHING!

Out of the cold snowy weather and back again along the Indian River! What a difference a day makes. Arrived late last night at the old CrabHouse in Roseland, FL and ready for the cement salt water pond as soon as the sun warms up the morning chill. Got my coffee in hand. I've been away from here for about 6 months as we traveled around the country finishing up our Re:Generation Tour and began the last year of our Alice's Restaurant - Back By Popular Demand Tour. Everyone in the band and crew are now home for the holidays, and I'm finally back on the river until we pick the tour up again in mid January.

This morning I rambled onto the deck over-looking the river. No big sunrise pix, just another day breathing the humid river air, and being thankful to be able to trade in the old boots for some sandals (if that). One of the reasons I love being on the river, unlike the ocean, is that there's all kinds of creatures in plain sight. In the coming weeks I'll be stalking them with a camera or two. If I capture something interesting I'll share it with anyone interested, as I have to assume anyone reading this falls into the mildly interested category of friends.

Unlike FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram or anything like the huge social media sites, arlo.net is much much personal and uniquely us and has been around longer than anything else out there. The mildly curious don't show up here very often. In fact most folks elsewhere don't even know this exists.

So, here we are. The year is coming to a close as the holidays are upon us - Happy Chanuka, Merry Christmas, and yippie to everyone finding something to celebrate. I love holidays of any kind. As far as I'm concerned we need as many reasons to celebrate as we can find. And that's my only immediate plan. Next up: Celebrate more coffee. Then everybody into the pool! A few weeks of this and I'll be ready to get back to the work of saving the world. For the moment, the work will be in your hands. Be well, stay happy and have fun.

We were heading to get last minute things done before going south. I got some really nice pix of the snow and ice in the trees along the road to town. I was caught in the act - shooting the pix - and thought I'd share with you.

It's been a cool few days down here south of the border - cool for them already here. But, still to see a little sun, and walk around without bundling up is a treat.

We're beginning to fill in the calendar year for 2019. Most have been decided already but there's always a few that show up late. I add them to our schedule here as soon as possible, but sometimes we're prohibited from doing so until the venues maker their own announcements. But, you can get a pretty good idea of where we're going, when. It looks like it's going to be a very busy year, with a little time off here and there.

As Usual,

Back On The River

December 8, 2018 - Roseland, FL

I'm back on the river in Roseland (Sebastian), FL for a few weeks break during the holidays. This morning I had the two things I enjoy most - a camera and a cup of decent coffee - In hand. I was going through the notes, messages, emails etc. as I do every morning, looked up from my desk, and grabbed the nearest camera, ran out onto the deck and grabbed a few pix before it all went away.

That was an hour or so ago. There was an update to the computer that left me wandering around while it took about 45 minutes to complete. By the time it was ready to roll, the day had become more normal. So I'm here with another cup of bliss, an updated desktop, and a bunch of little cameras I've collected over the years. All the good equipment is on the tour bus on the other side of the state. But, even the cheap cameras these days take awesome pictures. The phones we generally have these days take better photos than the actual digital cameras we had a couple of decades ago. It's an amazing thing.

I took photography lessons when I was a kid, and learned how to develop film, and make prints. Manny Lebensfeld was my first teacher, and we fooled around in his garage learning about cameras, film and all the associated stuff. That was about 60 years ago. A lot has changed, but I've kept up my obsession with cameras, and photos. Still at it, still learning, still having fun.

Another Good Day

December 14, 2018

As usual, I got up before dawn. Another good cup of java, and I waited to see if the morning would be something I had to photograph. It was, although it was quite early. Most of the time, the colors, if they're going to be good, show up about a half hour to forty-five minutes before sunrise. Today it was much earlier.

Now, hours later, it looks like the rain in the area will bypass us to the north heading out to sea. I have a couple of meetings this afternoon, but otherwise it's another day completely off. I love it!

I'm posting one of the pix from this morning - Just sharing - Nothing important. I just ran out onto the deck and started snapping away. This is one of the good ones - just the river & skies. Hope you can enjoy...
