Peter Graves was always "Jim"--he first found a place in my heart as Jim Newton in Fury. Talk about a wholesome but sexy role model for kids! And I agree that he was the best--and only for me--Jim Phelps. He and his brother had a lot to do with the ethical development of a generation.

I came across something online saying that the lead singer of the soul group from the 60's and 70's, the Dramatics had passed on.

They had out hits like Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get...

Fess Parker passed away at the age of 85. I'm old enough to remember the "summer of the coonskin caps"; think it might have been 1955.

"Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier".

Bad week for our heroes, I reckon. Fess Parker (Davey Crockett) was one of my early childhood heroes. Dang! The man was 6' 6" tall! A big hero literally and figuratively!

May all their journeys continue on smoothly if continue on be what our journeys do.

Fess Parker also played Daniel Boone, as well as Papa in the 1957 movie "Old Yeller".... and in a more contemporary vein, he was Senator Smith in the 1962 tv series "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

Always a man of the people... thank you Fess Parker, for being a part of our lives.

Is it true that Arlo's middle name, Davy, is after Davy Crockett?

I never thought about it, but it would kinda make sense..... I always thought it had something to do with the "Gypsy Davy" :?

Intriguing.
Must add - the Letter was the first song I played in public.

I loved Fess Parker, too. I'm not the only person I know who ended up working in a museum, due to a lifelong love of history which sprang from Fess Parker's Davy Crockett. RIP, Fess.

Another hero gone. I loved Fess Parker and I loved my coonskin cap. Wonder if the Summer of Coonskin Caps laid the groundwork for the Summer of Love ...
