Wow...Thanks so much Arlo for a magical evening. The music, excellent storytelling & commentary made for a very uplifting, enjoyable and memorable experience that included laughter (complete w/ tears) and lump-in-the-throat emotions. When I first read that you were coming to Victoria, I went out immediately and bought my tickets. And my anticipation of seeing you perform in person was rewarded with complete satisfaction (even if you didn't perform Alice's Restaurant that evening.)
I first heard Alice's Restaurant upon it's release while in high school in the states. As it takes place around Thanksgiving, I play it every year at that time. And since I moved back to Canada in 1986, and Thanksgiving falls in October here, I play it then too in addition to the U.S. holiday!
I was heading to the U.S. to visit a couple of years back, and the immigration officer asked during his routine questioning "Have you ever been arrested?" in the exact same tone as in Alice's Restaurant. Well, my reaction was laughter, which he was puzzled at. So I had to explain why I reacted in that way. Luckily he let me in.
the icing on the cake was getting your autograph on my Alice's Restaurant album. So, thanks again Arlo, Abe and Gord for an evening I won't ever forget. Until next time (which will be soon I hope.)

I grew up listening to Arlo’s and his father’s music as a child. In fact the very first movie I ever saw was Alice’s Restaurant. The very first song I can recall as a very young boy was the Motor Cycle song that my father would sing to me. I love my father very much for exposing me to the gift of music. My father is also a very talented musician himself and is of Arlo’s generation, dare I say hippie… I took my father to the show here in Victoria B.C. and sat just a few rows back from the stage… What a show!!!! I LOVE THE MUSIC… the humour. The place Arlo played was the Alix Goolden Performance Hall ironically it was formally a church. Great Venue, fantastic sound. And from Arlo probably the best excuse from and artist why not to sing a song (Alices Restaurant). I am sure like myself the rest of the aduiance could have sat there all night a listened to you play and spin a dit . I would like to say thank you Arlo and his son Abe for coming to our small city. I hope that we see you here again soonest. Maybe next time you and my dad could meet and possibly jam. Thank you again Arlo. PS Do you think that you will be coming out this way in the future???
