I've got a die-hard republican friend who has a guitar made from 100% genuine Bushwood. It's made out of the stuff stuff as dubya's head. It's hard as a rock, and although alotta sound comes out of it, no sound seems to get in.It's also got genuine Cheney tuning keys, so no matter how you tune it, Cheney is always pulling the strings.

Greetings from Virginia.

Thanks for the info Sue. I may have to try that. I can't afford to buy another guitar just to use steel strings and I am sentimental about this one it being my folks got it for me. So to use bronze steel strings on a guitar I may have to use Mikes Ephiphone. It really needs the actions lowered tho...

Cheryl, changing to the nylon strings on the classical may lower the action enough to be comfortable to play...at the least, you need to get the steel strings off it NOW if you plan to keep it around! The steel strings will pull the guitar apart or loosen the neck joint because it was not built for that kind of pressure, and it is not braced for steel strings. I'm surprised your bridge hasn't been pulled off yet!

Thanks for the info. I now know I need to get nylon strings for it. Wish my folks had gotten me a regular guitar but they didn't know what they were getting me other than it was an acoustic which I wanted. I've had steel/bronze strings on it since 1975...

Found this article - I feel lucky I was merely shown up, and worse didn't happen:
From Lancashire Evening Post (http://www.lep.co.uk)
The singer in an Italian teen gothic metal band and her brother stabbed the band's guitarist dozens of times - because he did not play well enough.
Police in Genoa, on Italy's north-western coast, said the 16-year-old victim remained in hospital.

His life is not in danger. Police said he was attacked after a band rehearsal.

The 18-year-old singer, Cristina Balzano, and her 16-year-old brother, the band's bass player, were arrested on charges of premeditated attempted murder.

The victim has accused both suspects of stabbing him after an argument over the his ability to play guitar.

I'm a bad guitar player so I'd be the first to get stabbed...
