louise!!!

I'm so glad you had a great time at the show in BRISBANE
but i'd like to point out just a small anomoly in the name of this thread.

ya' see... bein' of the jewish persuasion, there is really only one way a person of such upbringing can read the thread title... and that would lead one to believe that at this late stage of his life, which he in fact started as a member of the tribes due to his mother's maternal lineage, arlo has undergone a ritual circumcision. Now that would certainly leave one with the only question, why did he have to travel all the way to Oz to find a Moyel????

That's the surgeon/rabbi who can perform ritual circumcisions, known as a Bris Milah, or BRIS for short (which it is, after the procedure!!!!)

oy vey!

the horse is OK so back to the show

First I would personally like to thank adg for spending the time (and money!) to come all the way down here to visit us.

What a night. The sound was great the lighting was magic. . Jodie sang us some very moving original songs.......she just gets better and better at what she does.

adg started off with Chilling then The Old Apple Tree.........and right from then it warmed my heart to hear my daughter, my nephew and my niece-in-law start to giggle and then laugh like crazy at all the stories, just like we do. We were laughing so hard we were crying!
So he played the usual wonderful songs you've been hearing................then..........after waiting 40 years I heard Alice's live for the first time. It was just as fresh and funny as it was all those years ago and the youngens really appreciated the message.

They loved the Joseph story and it's message also. Some people don't need a loud hailer or a soapbox to get their message across, adg does it so well eh?

They were awed by adg's talents as a musician, storyteller and songwriter. My daughter was blown away by My Peace, she loved the music, don't we all?

After the show they all agreed that he is an amazing all round entertainer.
They have been hearing his music on and off (my daughter called it indoctrination!) through their lives, but be being there with Arlo himself, well I don't really know how to describe it, but you know, the way he makes you feel, they felt that.

It was wonderfull for us Brisbane Blunderites to spend a little time with adg after the show, I'm working on getting a few photo's on here for you soon :D just so you can see what we Oz Blunderites look like upsidedown!

Thanks again Arlo.

I haven't yet gotten to see an Arlo concert but I've been listening to the music and watching the videos that Ms. Guthrey so kindly shares. I'm hoping for a chance to see a show in person next year.

I wonder, is any of Arlo's children or grandchildren planning to take up the story telling-telling about their dad and his life the way Arlo does about his? I think it's so funny in the videos where the kids and grandkids are there on the stage and he goes into a story. They all sit down and wait patiently.

I think of Arlo as a paster with a large, very diverse flock. It'd rare to find a man who can get a wonderful, peaceful message across using music and laughter.

So glad you had a great time, Louise, but then, I was sure you would, and I didn't have to use my "Mystic" powers to know that. Thanks for taking me in your back pocket! :D

Hi Louise. Hi everyone :)

Yes, it really was a great show. And a chance to really appreciate how good the folksliger is on the guitar. It's awesome to watch one man and a guitar fill a room with magic.

I was lucky enough to hear the full massacree live at Roanoke VA in 05, but to hear it again solo is a real bonus. And lots of other highlights - St James Infirmary, Halleiwa Farewll, and My Peace.

Maybe there's a future CD there - the solo reunion unplugged sessions.

And great to meet up with Louise and family and BobbiB and hubby.

Thank you, adg !

Bye for now ... Dave

sometimes they say all praise is no praise. Love arlo but i found "Chilling" very loud and quick. this was done for a purpose my husband said but i like it slow. But I was fully rewarded after that. Loved "In my Darkest Hour." I lined up after the show for an autograph on my nearly forty year old "Arlo Guthrie" book. Maybe I was just recovering from a girl giving Arlo a big kiss before me, but all I could say was "I hear You're the same person" meaning as on the cover of the book. (sounding like I was hinting he had changed a whole lot!) Arlo what I wanted to say was it was a twist of fate that I ever discovered you as a young teen and if this hadn't happened there would have been an Arlo shaped whole in my life. Thanks and here is the kiss I would have liked to have given XX Thank you to to Jaqui who replied to a comment once on you tube. (and who always looked beautiful in my book.)
