So... one more thing... The tuning is a dropped D tuning (that's what makes the walk up on the bass work). The 6th string is tuned to D :)

I can't think of anything better for Veterans' Day than posting the lyrics & chords for "My Peace" so people will start singing it. I believe that the "big peace" begins with a lot of "little peaces." I plan on teaching this song at the churches I serve, our local jam session, & everywhere else that I sing. Thanks to everybody who helped me with words & MP3 files. Thank you, Arlo, for another incredible song at just the right time. I hope you will take this as a small "thank you" for autographing my guitar after the Chico, CA concert.

"My Peace" Words by Woody Guthrie & Music by Arlo Guthrie

1. (D) My peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (Bm) got that (G) I can (A) give to (D-D7) you. My (G) peace is (A) all I've (D) ever (Bm) had, its (Em) all I ever (Asus-A) knew. I (D) give my (A) peace to (D) green and (Bm) black, to (G) red and (A) white and (D-D7) blue. My (G) peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (Bm) got that (G) I can (A) give to (D) you.

2. (D) My peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (Bm) got, its (G) all I've (A) ever (D-D7) known. My (G) peace is (A) worth a (D) thousand times (Bm) more than (Em) anything I (Asus-A) own. I (D) pass my (A) peace (D) around and a (Bm) round, 'cross (G) hands of (A) every (D-D7) hue. My (G) peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (Bm) got that (G) I can (A) give to (D) you.

Blessings, Ben

Hey... That's pretty good. One thing - There's no Bm it's just a D with a F# in the bass usually written D/F#

So it ends up like:

1. (D) My peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (D/F#) got that (G) I can (A) give to (D-D/F#) you. My (G) peace is (A) all I've (D) ever (D/F#) had, its (Em) all I ever (Asus-A) knew. I (D) give my (A) peace to (D) green and (D/F#) black, to (G) red and (A) white and (D-D/F#) blue. My (G) peace, my (A) peace is (D) all I've (D/F#) got that (Em) I can (A) give to (D) you.

Same next time around.

As Usual

So... one more thing... The tuning is a dropped D tuning (that's what makes the walk up on the bass work). The 6th string is tuned to D :)

Oh sure NOW you tell me...

It sounded real close with normal tuning this way <wimper>.

What ever happened to "More than three chords is just showing off"? :)

Is there a way to edit? I messed up the Asus, too. (Needs an open A.)

There's the same amount of chords :). Either way it'll sound pretty good! I didn't know you were going to TAB it or I would have said something before.

Wow, that drop d really fills out the sound! Guess this nylon string guitar with a two inch nut needs replacing with something in a steel string witha narrower nut. I could just reach the second fret of the bottom E in standard tuning and the fourth fret is beyond my reach. I need to start using barre chords, right? So much to learn...

Hi -
Since I haven't been able to make it to a show yet this year and have never heard the song, would it be possible for someone to e-mail me a sound file so I know what it's supposed to sound like? If I had something to give in return I would but, since I don't, my gratitude will have to suffice...

Thanks to everyone who posted the Peace song and chords--thanks ADG for your corrections--I have not heard it either--would it be possible to put a sound version on line? Since I am a novice guitar player, I will try to figure out the melody on the piano, with which I am much more familiar--sure miss going to shows--when will you visit the east coast of
Fl for a show? Some time soon I hope--
All my love,
Flo/Nandani Jaya

Pretty sure Arlo will be in Florida this winter. Check the Schedule tab on the left.

My Peace was the encore at Ithaca and I would be glad to make copies of the show if you send 3 blank CDRs and a stamped self addressed mailer to me. PM me for details.

Hey, Flo, nice to see you here! Too bad you weren't at Carnegie. You could have heard--and felt--"My Peace" fill the place......

How do you write melody as TAB? I can pick the notes out but don't know how to indicate time. Then there's the issue if it's a march or a waltz but one catastrophy at a time.
