Ok I' found this thread while avoiding stuff; I may have said it before but procrastination is the only way I ever get anything done

I write (very infrequently as the title suggests) poetry, but I like everyone's offerings on here so thought I would throw this in the ring- when I write poems I kind of have a rhythm/melody in my head but not music as such, so i can't give any music notation for this, but maybe someone more talented than I might wish to, I did try to squeeze what sounded like a chorus in it so...

The Sun was shining and the sky was blue and clear -
but the air was cold and still, as the trees lay sleeping.

In the still I stood, when somewhere in the
distance a tolling bell broke - was it you -
was it your whispering that chased silence away -
was it your whispering that brought my memories back
from dying.
From an old familiar house of glass I went to fetch you -
from the cellar where they were lying,
my memories - lying in a smiling yellow box.

The sun was shining and the sky was blue and clear -
but the air was cold and still, as the trees lay sleeping.

I stood by the stairs and heard you,
humming a tune in your sleep. I came down
the steps - sweeping as I went - the dust
lay so thick, and found you waiting there -
Smiling so sweetly as you slept so peacefully.
I brought you back into the light and sat
with you on my knee awhile - before I
opened the box and heard your sweet voice
once more - I sat and listened to everything
that used to be - 10 years is to long pretending
to be dead.

The sun was shining and the sky was blue and clear -
but the air was cold and still, as the trees lay sleeping.

I let my thoughts dance - a long slow dance
among the footsteps we once shared, the tune
was slow and sweet but they were only echos
wrapped around my feet, so I sat with your
memories in my hand.
I looked back as the tune played on - not in
anger, and with your memories scattered all
around - sorrow hid, but your love hung
heavy on my breast. I sat reading - thinking -
all the while dreaming - so night slowly stole the
day away.

The sun was shining and the sky was blue and clear -
but the air was cold and still as the trees lay sleeping.

I sat with thoughts of you wrapped
around my head - as the moon rolled on by.
Thinking of things we both once knew, thoughts
of leaves against blue and the warm breeze
that played in our hair.
The Moon - she stayed to watch - like so
many times before, watching me write down
thoughts of you before she washed them,
softly weeping, to the floor - to play with the
shadows they only too well knew.

The sun was shining and the sky was blue and clear,
but the air was cold and still, as the trees lay sleeping.

Not sure at all, I feel like to should delete it, but I've typed it now so it's up to you.

sorry, i sometimes only get things half said. i am basically offering a nudge?, maybe find the tune in your head that perhaps conveys the mood you think is appropriate, even if it is just into a recorder. (?)

Thank You so much agnes and tallyjanice,

I have a few that, if I ever learned to play I could probably put to music.

I am ashamed to say in the house we have three guitars and a piano and I can't play. I did try many years ago, but it was when i was very ill, and as I got better other things took priority, but they aren't going to go off so one day maybe. I suppose it's one of the reasons why I supported Arlo and Javan when they were interested in learning, Javan lost interest but Arlo seams to be plodding along.

But like I said if anyone thinks they are able to put it to music, it would be nice to hear it.

Thank you, for the kind words Louise and Cheryl.

I have a book or two full of them and they never get shared, I may get round to posting another sometime?
