well, i did manage to find a copy of the wicker man to rent. (it included an extended version, which to me makes more sense than the theatrical version)
it is an interesting film, artistically speaking, and it does leave you thinking about the nature of religion...or something. maybe that is what it is supposed to do? seems it would be disturbing to both christians and pagans (the clash of cultures in the film). don't want to give away too much in case anyone who hasn't, wants to watch it.

perhaps i just flat out don't understand the movie...but i did find it interesting and artistic and disturbing.

oh Agnes, wow, am so happy you went and saw The Wicker Man!!

it is a brilliant film - i love the music (have the soundtrack on record) and the photography is just AMAZING. yes, beautiful and disturbing, love it!!! i have watched it a lot of times and even worked on my friend's dissertation for his English degree a long time ago - he wrote a paper about traditional vs modern and looked at The Wicker Man and Walkabout. another amazing film. oooh don't get me started!!

won't go into it too much to avoid spoiling for others but think you'd enjoy Don't Look Now. also haunting and beautiful...and terrifying!!

oh yes! i definitely like the soundtrack! and the scenery details and stuff...it was an interesting film to watch! just wish they could have worked things out a little better! :)

i am not sure i am in a hurry to see don't look now just now, not that it looks like a bad movie...and i see donald sutherland is in it and i recall seeing him in a thing or too as a fairly convincing character...but that walkabout has me curious now (another new one on me) may look into that one sooner...i think!

Yes, you certainly have to be in the right mood for Don't Look Now and it always really makes me want to go to Venice in the Winter. its very atmospheric, but giving no more away!! Walkabout is also amazing - set in the Australian outback. be interesting to hear what you make of it if/when you see it!!

i rented the movie and watched it! ('twas available on returning the other)

,,,things do look up for a bit anyway, once they are good and lost in the desert...

another beautiful film with a tragic bent! (so as not to give too much away)

I went out and watched it for about 2 hours. It was an amazing sight, and it was freezing cold. At it's peak, everything, including my dogs, got very still and quiet (even more quiet than usual at that hour out here in the sticks)......it was almost like time stopped for a few moments........

well the snow laden trees were pretty the other day
but the sound of them snapping at the base under the weight and limbs snapping off and crashing to the ground right outside wasn't exactly a lulllabye to my ears during the night. :)

be safe everyone!
