did you ever figure something so disturbing could happen in OKC? It can't happen here! It can't happen here! I know I am a bit talkative lately and I don't know what posesses me.

Now that you are all convinced I am touched in the head and looney, consider the following:

It is difficult to confront demons that may possess you, don’t you think? I know all these nightmarish thoughts might seem odd that they may descend upon me at a CSN show but in the breaks between thinking these things in my mind, my consciousness would wander about the reality of it all and the possibility that it was true. Let’s see, Adolf ended his life deep beneath the crust of the earth at the epicenter of horrific karma in 1945. So how long would the soul of such a man rest before its reintroduction to Earths conceptual reality, its return to the place of its never ending birth death and rebirth of the frailties of ego: hatred, jealousy, greed, deception and the like. I was born in 1958 and 13.5 years sounds like a good nights rest for a tortured soul (I was born in Sept he died in April, thus 13.5). I mean how does a soul measure time and as far as the body, the corporeal, is concerned lets see; I sleep about 5 to 6 hours on a cycle of 24 hours. So lets take 6 hours to calculate the ratio and that means a quarter of my life I sleep, recharging my brains energy. So let us assume the soul takes the same relative time to recharge as measured in our Earthly time reality, so 13.5 times 4 is 54. Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 and died April 30, 1945, let’s see now, he was 56 years old, 54, 56, pretty close. Spooky man! But he was born in Austria and I was born in Oklahoma, surely there is no connection there! But wait, Oklahoma came into being as an official home of Aryan man on April 22, 1889 (remember the Czech cemetary in the section I grew up in and Bohemia was part of the Hapsburg empire that Hitler was born in) and its existence is the result of the call to open territory wasted on barbaric man when Whitemen could use it for better purpose as a resource to advance Western Culture (Liebenstrom for Aryan Man, Hitlers ultimate goal coupled to the genocide of an inferior barbaric race for the good of True Man). At the very time of Hitlers’ birth the place of my birth was being organized in way that reflects the driving force that fueled Hitlers drive, prejudices and power. All this shit was going through my mind in that concert hall that night in 1982. (Twilight Zone Music)

I was screaming let me outta here before I was born,
It’s such a gamble when you get a face.

Lyrics from Blank Generation by Richard Hell

You know once I was sitting in a little restaurant bar in Vienna and I was hanging with some UK guys (Pete, my Welsh friend was there and he had been singing to the group and amazingly started his little entertainment segment with Oh what a beautiful morning from the stage show Oklahoma) and an Austrian man looking a bit haggard was sitting there during the show and was paying particular attention to me. He finally spoke and said, You are American? I said yes. He looked me right in the eye and he said, "You Americans killed many more Indians than we killed Jews!" Odd, isn't it

This is so evocative of my last trip; 120 something. I can't relate the details the way you can, but I was there, but here.

I know you must be thinking: where is he going with this? I know I am going somewhere with this but I just don’t know for sure where or if you are interested in following along. Why just the other day at the local bookstore I was wandering the aisles as I usually do and an argument spilled out from the vestibule near the history books and it could be heard all the way from the Art section to the Philosophy, from the Science to the Religious section and the man was irate, irate I tell you, as his point had been dismissed so readily with a roll of the eyes and a wisp of air escaping from the lips with a bit of tongue a thwhooo sound came from his nemesis across the circle. It was one of those political discussion circles you occasionally see where all the contributors practice their serious looks as they deliver insightful and well reasoned arguments to the group. Any way, the point the irritated man wished to make was that George Bush was ever bit a tyrant and terrorist as Saddam Hussein. Of course I hung around a bit to see how this would go as a woman in the group tried to calm the man down and the stares from the book buying public made some in the group self conscious. Is that like comparing Hitler and Stalin on some kind of sliding scale, so it may be relevant to today’s world afterall?

So I was in my father’s house and found this book by Walter C Langer, a bit of literature I had seen referenced but never actually read. Walter was a psychiatrist who looked forward to creating a new era in warfare, psycho-logical warfare, in the time America was engaged in Lend Lease war. He saw the appointment of Wild Bill Donovan to the position of Coordinator of Intelligence in August 1941 as an opportunity to take Psycho-logical Warfare to places it had never been before. Not satisfied with the notion that exploiting atrocities to influence public opinion on military action was the extent of Psycho-warfare (let me see the USS Maine, Pearl Harbor, the Bay of Pigs, Gulf of Tonkin, the Rape of Kuwait and the Twin Towers all have conspiracy theories associated with them) he wanted to expand the influence of the Psychologist/Psychiatrist in the early days of what would be become the OSS/CIA.

So he was commissioned by Wild Bill (love that name) to profile Adolf in the 1942-43 time frames, the report being submitted directly to the likes of FDR and our UK buddy Winston. It is a sad and lonely tale of a boy of uncertain pedigree born in the backwash of a dying decrepit empire of illiterate stock. An intelligent boy is born to a protective mother and a brutal father. The father has intelligence and is capable of rising above his station as a Civil servant but young Adolf sees a man who likes to drink too much before he comes home and penetrates his young wife in an act more reminiscent of proving ownership than implying love. The intelligent boy becomes caught up in family sibling politics and looses interest in his family with the exception of his mother, whom he loves dearly, and he watches her die a slow painful death of breast cancer complete with bloody operations and wasting away when he was just a young teenager. The boy moves to Vienna hoping for a new start as budding young artist but finds rejection and poverty in flophouses full of pseudo-intellectuals and homosexuals. He really displays no ambition at all as he enters his twentieth year and makes his existence money with painted post cards or bumming on the streets. He eventually takes labor jobs that he considers beneath his dignity and argues with the socialist workers about politics and philosophy.

It is at this point that Walter converts from a historian to a Psycho-Analyst and has Adolf possessed by a projection of reality, his father the antiquated Hapsburg Dynasty and his mother the innocent young German Nationalist Movement and somehow all wrapped up in a smelly disgusting rape of innocence. He is a man not interested in truth but in creating his own twisted reality and time spent learning is time spent developing superficial arguments to further his cause. He becomes a sycophant when the need arises but he is possessed with the knowledge that he is a man of destiny. He becomes a political caricature, the loud mouth in the bar endlessly rambling on and on of political philosophy and the way to the future. He enters the first great war believing in causes that don’t really exist and sees the end as the betrayal of aristocracy as the ultimate expulsion of spunk by a rotten father into a mothers innocent belly (psychiatrists, jeez). Times change and Hitler’s right Wing ranting becomes popular and he sales, he is on the concert circuit. He becomes the leader with an unfocused style of living through ideal not detail. He defines the goals and agendas then surrounds him self with those that could sort the detail creating a hierarchy for the ambitious. He realized and developed his power of persuasion even consulting a Jewish Mystic (con artist) named Hanussen to help him pull it off at the same time he is developing his anti-Semitic rhetoric to fuse his Aryan brotherhood into a focused army to forward his goals, the rightful chosen people.

What is the relevance and why go there after 60 years. Who cares? I am sure that Franklin and Winston were fascinated to learn that Adolf suffered from bizarre sexual desires that after a hard day of strutting about in his uniform personifying the ideal Man he liked to lie naked in his bed and have healthy young nude women hover above him defecating occasionally (it was working for me till the end). The reason I am compelled is because he is the Gold Standard, the original Grand Actor on the world stage with an agenda in his pocket. You may say but what about Caesar and Khan or the Jewish God Yahweh for that matter. They fused huge groups of people into crazed genocidal hordes, Caesar would kill until his opponents allied with him (the Alexander model, can’t forget Al), Khan killed the men and impregnated the women so that the next time he entered the village it was full of family and God told Joshua to kill ‘em all and take Canaan for the land of your seed. So how does Hitler differ? He was a modern man in the modern world elected into his deified role by an act of democratic choice. Thus, the final solution to the Enlightenment and the ultimate realization that there really is no divine hand to ensure that man’s progress is forward (there is know one to define the direction).

Lets probe deeper into the picture Walter paints. Adolf, the tortured young man who has seen his mother (country) brutally raped and left to wither and die. He sees he shares this dream with many of his fellow country men. He has a talent for stirring mass emotion and develops a stage show. He believes destiny, the all encompassing power of fate, has chosen him for his task at this time (something he probably shares with Winston and Franklin). He begins blaming others for the state of affairs of his mother (the German people). The Jews are responsible, the communist are responsible, the Jewish communist are responsible and it all commingles in passionate rhetoric that bring the masses to their feet. He has a corps of handlers and bureaucrats that efficiently convert his rhetoric into reality through his popularity. Their success reinforces his role as Leader and his will as a man of destiny. Gradually he begins to believe his own fantasies. They become grand in scale, dominance in the west and empire in the east and the development of a pure pristine race of people were once a mongrel horde survived. These are the dreams of fantasy of an actor who effectively projected his dreams on a population in one huge mass fantasy.

Then he would walk off stage and (per Bob Dylan) have to stand naked. He was scared. He avoided decisions; blow them off entirely waiting for destiny to take a hand. He would suddenly leave the reality of polished boots and priggish nature for walking in the Alps and playing with his dog (to the great frustration of his handlers apparently). When confronted he would shout he wasn’t interested in detail just make it happen. When he wanted detail he would plan great cities of the future and memorize long lists of weaponry specifications. He would stay up all night watching movies and hold pleasant coffee clutches the following morning. Those who met him comment on how pleasant and cordial he is as his rhetoric are creating a nightmarish hell for millions. Even in April 1945 with people literally yards away dying by the bucket full, he is having coffee and sweets with the ladies before the final act, the only murder he could be physically linked to, his own.

I think it is funny that Walter speaks of his evaluation of Hitlers’ psyche as a new age of psychological warfare. Maybe it would be better if it was a new age of self analysis on the psychosis of war. I mean, everyone knows he never murdered anyone but himself. Apparently, unlike Stalin, he wasn’t interested in the least in the details of selecting those to be removed. So would a lawyer in Gods court pursue a defense of plausible deniability or would he argue that any guilt Adolf had accrued should be fused with that of the entire Nation. None of his ideas were new, unique or novel, they were an integral part of his culture that were focused through him into a point of combustion, as the energy of the sun is focused with a magnifying glass. How would God mediate Justice? Would his ruling affect our view of actors like George Bush, Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden or the rhetoric of their dreams? If I support the position of one of these actors in a political debate in the local library do I assume or am I fused with any guilt they may accumulate on the cosmic tab sheets a result of their rhetorical con games. Am I a Con Fused Man! Is this the age of Con Fused Man!

Is it foolish to believe in two possibilities: the path of the wicked and the path of the righteous? Or is it foolish to believe that you are on the path of righteousness? As my world falls apart it must be that the wicked prosper! In the end, there must be the final judgement, the ultimate balance, the great cosmic replay when righteousness prospers and the wicked perish and there is no dissonance in the waveband! OOOOOMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm

This thread was started talking about my father and all sort of foolishness. My father loved the sound of music. In the 60's, we would drive through Capital Hill (across the river from where the capital of OK actually ended up) and drive through the neighborhood where he grew up and i would hear this story and that about the family resteraunt where if anybody ordered a steak back then he would have to run down to the butcher and buy one and bring it back and then we would go and sit in the liquor store/pawn shop where the old place was and talk to the man who ran the place before going upstairs to see my great grandmother who was old as dirt by that time and hear the endless stories..the endless stories...I would go back and peek into the room where I could remember my great grandfather laying and dying and occasionally speaking with a german accent (the german in me is the only part that hasn't been here since before 1750). Then we would drive to the malt shop and get the el grande chocalate malts from the same shop he went to as a kid. Then we would drive home in that old 1960 Ford Falcon with a three on the tree. We would be sittin at a stop light on a hot OK night and all the cars around would have the windows down and am radios could be heard when my old man would start singing as loud as loud can be "the hills are alive with the sound of music" and I would sink down in the seat hoping no one would see me....Later I gave him a copy of John Coltrane and My Favorite Things but I bet the only time he heard it was when I put it on.....I would eventually change it to Jascha Heifitz playing the Carmen Fantasy arranged by Waxman...as we both loved that and it seemed to be in his comfort zone

So why do you think Mahler made it as a conducter and not a composer? (of course (I think) I know the answer or I would not have asked)
