There are times when someone will post to a topic within a forum, and for some reason, the software decides that:
a. this is the last posting for the current page
b. this should be the first posting for the NEXT page (but this doesn't happen!)

What happens is that if you click on the icon to go to the most RECENT post - you get a page that says something like NO MORE POSTS.
To find the actual post you have to go BACK to the previous page.
Thus an empty page has been created...

This happens with some regularity, and until the next person posts, the 'current' page is actually a NO DATA page.

Have fun Dave, I'm sure you were looking for something to do this weekend!

Hmmm... maybe it's time I looked at the phpBB3 beta... We *WILL* most likely switch at some point. Lot of new features and improvements.

Has this happened very recently? As in the past few days? Basically ever since I posted the message about ALL the topics in Group W showing up? Have you noticed it happens in a topic where posts have been deleted by a moderator?

Hi Dave,
It seems to happen on hugeb threads that have been around for a while,

Right now, if you go to ArloNet Forum Index ยป Folksinger Spottings and click on the bent-corner-paper icon for my append, it says nothing found, but if you click on page 25 over on the left, it is there.

kurt...

Thanks kurt - helps to be able to see the problem...

I've temporarily locked that topic until I can give something a try later this evening, either way it will be unlocked tonight.

Either the phpBB code has a bug, or it's a problem with a missing user...

Dave... just so you know, the problem has been going on for a LONG time.

It seems to be happening, as Kurt says, in long threads. I've only noticed it in the "Folksinger Spottings" Forum, the "News and Reviews" thread and the "TV and Radio" thread (though it may be happening in other threads but I don't remember it).

(It had happened before the consolodation so I'm betting phpBB bug.)

Thanks, Dave!

Problem solved... was a user issue... was not happening in the Group W forums - since I ran various checks and corrections on them during the migration. Should never occur again (fingers crossed)... I know what caused the problem (I believe) - and have since resolved it.

Basically, it was caused by a user not being deleted properly. See, normally when a user is deleted, so are all their posts and topics... Well, somewhere along the way, the user disappeared, but their posts were left intact. Well, the forum was counting those posts - but it wouldn't display them because it didn't know who they belonged to. I reassigned them to the "Guest" account (which is inactive since I require people to register to post)... and their posts show back up, and the count matches... If that makes any sense.

I believe that this issue has been corrected, but if it does happen again - please let me know.
