I see there's a category in the Glamour Contest at the Fruitcake Toss for "Furthest Traveled," to be judged by the postmarks on the package. I'm thinking we could help a Wyld One if she decides to enter that! Louise???? I'll chip in for the cost of the fruitcake and the postage...

Count me out Shel, never made a fruitcake in my life. I'm not fond of them. My beloved likes 'em. Even tho my Mom only spent 20 out of 80 years of her life in the U.S, we have always had pumpkin, pecan or chess pie at Christmas. None of my family like fruitcake much. My Aussie Nana used to make it and also Christmas pudding which is similar to fruit cake but boiled in water, wrapped in calico, and then before we changed to dollars and cents in '64 it was tradition to put threepence or sixpence coins in it!
It hurt when you bit down on one!!! It is served with custard. I never liked it.......gimme punkin' pie any day!!! And as for those mince pies,,,yuk!!!

So I'd be happy to throw the fruitcake (if you want to pay for me to post myself there instead of thr fruitcake) long as I don't have to make it or eat it! I reckon I could toss a fruitcake alot further than Larnie could toss a jar of Vegemite, even!

(Now I gotta go catch up on more of the last week of posts. I was lost in Celery time for a week, then on Sat my beloved bought me a new video card AND a new keyboard so I'm up and runnin' again. I was on during Sat but the last week of arlonet was lost too, it was very strange, but everything is back to normal (well for around here) now)

OOOPPS!!! Being the daughter of an historian, I have a thing about correct dates, so must correct myself on the year in which Oz changed to decimal currency...........so I'll do it in a song..

In come the Dollars
and in come the Cents

To replace the Pounds
and the Shillings and the Pence

Be prepared folks
When the coins begin to mix

On the 14th of February 1966!

Fortunately I like fruitcake. My mom & my cousin Tillie could both make good fruitcakes. Even a fruitcake hater would like them... :)
