I forget what Shuggie sang but it was something popular. I had forgot Johnny was his dad. The things you learn on here... :)

cheryl, i don't remember ever hearing of either of them but i remember hand jive (i just never knew where it came from) and i was goofing around on youtube (cuz i wanted to see!) and found this...
johnny otis
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TEeeGMpM_Nk

and also this...i remember this song, but i think this version is better (actually performed by shuggie i think) (maybe this is the song you remember too? i don't know maybe it is a different one) anyway...

also i had to come back and read your bullfrog quick step again psb cuz the first time around i had to speed read it which is pretty silly because what good is a tapestry like that when all you do is glance at it. anyway it looks like we have a similar night schedule...there i am after a brief period of deep sleep, then hovering on the edge of awake, then pow! a thought breaks into my consciousness and there i am abruptly wide awake like dracula in his coffin at the stroke of midnight (a pretty grisly comparison i guess...sorry about that) but did you ever see that old nasferatu film...i remember seeing it once accompanied by a live orchestra...they even had windsound machines...and i remember the actual wind outside (it was at a pavilion outside) picking up on cue with the winsound machines on stage and the effect had you wondering if the wind would blow the hair right off everyone's heads!
but anyhow...i imagine you may look at me like the rca dog into the victorola because i...somehow think there is more out there besides just us (and i don't know what religion has to do with it)...i don't know...and..i am so glad that you bother to share your thoughts here because...if you were me you would understand :) my thoughts seem to be running away now...sorry...

Thanks for the info. I remember the Hand Jive song. I had no idea he was the one that did the origional version of "Strawberry Letter 23,". I've heard his version before but didn't know who did it. I hadn't heard it in yrs. The version we always heard was the one the Brothers Johnson had out a few yrs later I remember when I wasin high school a friend of mine & her sister bought the Brothers Johnson version & we played it on her sisters record player....

I love "Dudelsack" (bagpipe) music. And The Rogues make me want to move my feet and dance. That little boy with his drum was so cute.

well! here i am...monitoring the refrigerator situation. someone has to...right?

anyhow, this weekend marks the closing of this year's renaissance faire season...it is always hard to leave. i am glad i got to go again! and we sure needed that rain last night...which helped knocked down the dust. the time before, clouds of dust had been kicked up all day, wheee-ew!!...it was delicious though...tasted like 10,000 feet!?
i got to see my nox friend again...she is beautiful! i told her that i would keep her identity secret though, so that is all i am saying.
there was one faerie there who apparently had a SPL-IT personality disorder, who was selling pretzels and pickles...one minute oscar the grouch, "PRETZELS!" (startled the hell outta me) (i looked around everywhere and found her right next to me!) the next moment a tiny delicate creature who wouldn't harm a fly, "and pickles!" (poor thing)

it was good to see and hear the mediaeval baebes again! as i have said about them before...if you ever want to get as close as you possibly can to sirens and survive, see them!

okay,...see ya later!

ps...good to see you around psb!

I worked at the RenFaire in Agoura, CA when we lived out there...I still have my wench costume. Ask me about the gladiator guys from Muscle Beach sometimes...we ladies had our hands on some very interesting people, one of whom had a very distinctive giggle.
The worst part about working RenFaire in costume? Try taking care of business in a porta-john wearing forty pounds of clothing in 100+ degree temperatures.
