I downloaded 2 zipped folders of a concert at the Kennedy Center. Dave put directions on the trading post place where the links were listed about how to play them, but I can't figure it out.

When these files are extracted, the file extention is .flac. I have several video players installed on my computer, but they don't work on this. Will I have to download the latest version of Winamp to make the files play? I know nothing about MAC and I use Windows XP on my PC.

If anyone know what to do, please let me know,

Thanks

Linda

I believe the README.TXT file included has the info you are looking for... Why does no one ever bother to read the readme files? But just in case I forgot the info, from another forum member:

Thanks Dave... It's great stuff.

I was able to find a freeware to convert flac files to wav and burn onto CD.

BTW, "flac" is neither Mac or PC... FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. FLAC files can be compared to MP3 files - the main difference being that FLAC is lossless. It is a standard that many bootleggers seem to have adopted - because it is cross platform and fairly compact. It just hasn't gained as widespread an acceptance as MP3.

Thanks Dave and Goofus. I downloaded the latest Winamp and got the files into it. The concert was wonderful! I used winamp years ago and gave it up because I found it difficult to use. iTunes is hard too, but I have to use it with my iPod.

I usually don't read the Read Me files because I just don't want to, but I actually did this time, and it worked for me.

Thanks again!

pardon my observation, but those folks who fail to open and actually READ files marked README when they download software, are usually the same folks who fail those tests with 25 instructions at the beginning with the first one reading:
Quote:
READ all of these instructions before beginning the test!

and the last one reading:
Quote:
If you have read all the instructions up to here, put your name at the top of the paper and hand it in, you've gotten 100%!

So, as long as I continue to name them "README", I can talk trash about you without you ever seeing it?! :)

How about if you name them "Do Not Read Me" files? Then a lot more people would read them.

I'm glad I don't have to take tests anymore!
