So far, so good. First little series of shows went well. Yesterday, flew in to Perth from Adelaide. The Dropkick Murphys were on the flight with me and we got to have a few laughs together. The flight was interesting as we found ourselves circling Perth while storms raged below. Lightning hit the plane in mid air - don't remember having had that happen before. They had played Adelaide the same night as us, and we were also playing on the same night in Perth. Our show went well, although it would have been fun to catch their show, we obviously couldn't make that happen. But it was great sharing a few good times with some guys from home.

The St. Kilda gig was a little under-attended, but was a good show. Grabbed a pic of the sun setting from the balcony of the Cosmopolitan Hotel. This is the same town where Abe got the pictures that would end up being the cover for the "Live In Sydney" CD.

Despite his frequent protests to the contrary, our favorite folkslinger is a pretty smart fellow. He knew enough to hold the camera upsidedown.

Here's the crew hanging on a day off in Perth! Left to Right, Dani (sound engineer), Richard (promotor), Other Richard and his wife (local promotors), Juile (merch girl) and Jodi Martin who is opening all the gigs here.

Sunrise in Hawaii - The day I left for Oz. Leaving this for working is basically insane, but somebody has to do it.

Oh that sure seems like a better job than I've got. But I do have to do something.

Glad you're having fun hon! Have a good trip. I saw the most amazing sunrise in Nags Head when I had to get up at 5 or 6 am to go to the bathroom. Had I not had to go I would've missed it lol.

Yes, the sunsets are lovely.

Forget the sunsets. The plane was hit by lightening.

That must have been...weird....horrible....I dunno.

Sunrise, Sunset... a few years ago while in CA, my daughter also had to make a nocturnal bathroom run... and saw the most gorgeous sunrise! Next night (morning), same thing. Must have been around 5:30 or 6 AM. But on the 3rd night, she had to get up around 2 AM. Saw the SAME sunrise, AGAIN! Finally realized it was the garage light.

I have my doubts that it was lightning. I'll wager it was Godzilla's breath.

I recall reading something about lightning hitting planes being extremely common occurrences, but can't recall where, so I googled it:

"Lightning strikes are more common than one might think. Statistics show that the commercial airlines average one hit per aircraft per year or an average of once every 1500 flight hours."
