What, are you insane?

I'm afraid I'm in the same corner as nortonkevin. This is where I come for mental and spiritual refreshment.

I appreciate your offer Larry, really I do, but I don't need any more help to make me crazy. In the first place, I've got kids AND grandkids! Secondly, I work with drunks and drug addicts all day! But the main clue to the extent of my twistedness (7th level---haaa!) lies in the fact that I come to these pages to unwind because it's the sanest place I could find!!!

This sounds a lot like me! I have kids; 6 of them! And grandkids;15! AND my 18 year old grandson will soon be a father; great-grandchild! We had 4 teenagers at the same time! I also worked at the county jail for 6 years-drunks and addicts all day! After also having had chemo twice, I'm so confused that I must be
past the 7th level. This place is fun but if I unwind too much, I might melt.

The heart does not succumb to distance if the love is true.

well the kid is coming home tomorrow. She will be down on the south side of the Thames on a roof just off Waterloo Bridge watching the fire works tonight before catching the flight out! You know I think she is too young for love but certainly not too young to experience life. Hey, but I am a revolutionary at heart!

I was reading a book that prompted me to add this bit here about young love and distances and stuff like that

... If tomorrow wasn't such a long time then lonesome would be nothing to you at all. This sank into my soul as a youth and lies there still. As far as dad stuff goes, you know she loves Dylan, so share with her this song?

Dylan was often playing as she was growing up but I believe what drew her to listening to all my old Dylan stuff was a band called the White Stripes. She was crazy about it, she loved that sound. Suddenly I found a lot of my old CD's in her bedroom as she discovered the history of music on her own. Before she went to England she copied all my old Flying Burritos and Jerry Jeff stuff and Townes of course. Crazy kid?

Poor kids today-the music of their generation leaves so much to be desired. They need to borrow our music in self-defense.

I don't know, I think of music (art) as one giant ongoing work in progress.

Did you ever hear that song you better get it while you can about white boys following Carl Martin around? or maybe Mississippi John Hurt or Rev Gary Davis or maybe even Woody Guthrie? People are always borrowing and reinventing and stuff!

better get it while you can
if you wait to long
it'll all be gone and
you'll be sorry then

That's true, and some of the new stuff is good. My 5 daughters range in age fron 21 to 36 and they are always hearing new stuff they want me to listen to. I listened to a WHOLE album of NIN just for one of my daughters. It was awful. The older kids still like the stuff they grew up on, as well as some of the new. They all like the music I force-fed them as children-The Beatles, Billy Joel, The Eagles.
