Happy Birthday to the late Malcolm X. In my opinion you were too radical, yet the world wouldn't be the same without you! God-Bless you Malcolm wherever you may be...

And to Peter Townshend...... A very happy birthday to a great guitar player, writer, singer ect.... You do a windmill like no other....

Tommy was good, but Quadrophenia was MUCH MUCH better.....

Peace out / Robert

Cher, Dave Thomas, and James Stewart all share birthdays today....

* Ya might have to do some research to see if that's Jimmy Stewart ( actor ... Ya know, the one that did Campell soup commercials very late in his carreer)

but I just suppose it's him....

RB

* yeah celebrity b-days come up on my home page. It took me over a decade to remember Sue's. But it's been a 1/4 century now, so I think I got it down... The same was true with my Mother. Don't throw rocks, but for some strange reason, I could never remember her b-day... It's not like I forgot her, as I always got many a reminder. :?

Happy Birthday Malcolm McDowell! I believe that's the actor that gave us, A Clockwork Orange, among other unbelievable acting roles....

Not to drift off, but I think it terrible about David Carridine's demise, not only a loss to the acting world, or world at large. The fact the news media had to put all the details in the thing. I guess you can google it and see the photos. I won't go there.

I loved all the Carridines. Big John, and all his sons. What a family. What genious.....

Rest in Peace/ David Carridine. God knows, the world is wierd. Nothing can taint your image, for me...

Sincerely / Rob

I feel the same way about David Carradine Rob. Alot of folks might not know that he was a very talented folksinger as well. I heard him play at a coffee house in San Francisco around '78 with his brother Keith. They both played guitar, and sang old traditionals and some great originals. He seemed like a very friendly, humble and spiritual man.

I liked his folksinging, the man was multi-talented. But I do agree with Arlo, that Carridine did not portray Woody that great in Bound For Glory. The man was too tall, and as the story goes. My Mom was a great fan of Woody. She hated the movie, as she thought there was allot, that coulda been left out. It didn't portray the man's wholesome side, as much as it coulda... ( my Mom's opinion )

Woody was no angel. As we all know. But that aside, he was a genious on a whole differant level, than most genious's. Pardon my spelling.

My eldest brother, who I for yrs. didn't think we had allot in common, said to me once. Woody Guthrie was a genious, and it would take some pretty big shoes, to fill, his knoledge of the world, as it should be...

Take this for what it is. The writing's of a simple man. Well studied in life...

BTW: Today is Donald Trumps birthday...... What do you think of that hair do.... If I didn't know better, I'd say he's competing, phil spector...

I don't think David Carradine is all-that-much to blame for "Bound For Glory" being a poor film. What I thought was much funnier and perceptive was his portrayal of Woody not long after on Saturday Night Live. Woody's in the hospital and someone playing a very young Bob Dylan comes in to see him, writing down everything Woody says. The nurse asks Woody, "That young Mr. Dylan is here to see you Mr. Guthrie, shall I tell him to go away?" Woody says, "Naw, let the kid in, he makes me laugh......it takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry..." (Dylan's scribbling furiously)......He asks, "How's it goin' Woody?"......"I don't know kid, feels like I'm just blowin in the wind these days......feels like I'm a'knock knock knockin' on heaven's door"......Dylan writing every word down, on and on......it was really hilarious!

Happy Birthday Waylon Jennings. Where ever you are. Waylon, lived his life to the fullest. Kinda sad, as living in the fast lane, does pay it's consequences.

John Cash once said in an interview with Larry King. King asked John if the amphetimine use, and hard living led to his health problems. Cash said no.

I'm no Dr. but Waylon had loads of health problems, and had an early demise. Keeping up with that lifestyle, went with the territory back in the day.

Then again, maybe Cash wasn't embellishing the truth, and drugs didn't lead to his poor health.

None the less. They were great men, wonderfull musicians. That are sadly missed...

God-Bless you Waylon. Lord knows the world misses you. If there is an after life, tell John Cash Rb said hey. ntm: I'll see ya'll one day!!! Hopefully it'll be awhile. But the lord knows, I have my demons, and some day, I'm sure it'll catch up with me as well.

God-Bless/ Rb

Today woulda been, or is Jane Russell's birthday. I was wondering if she mighta been born to Leon Russell, but Leon Russell is just his stage name. He was born Claude Russell Bridges, so no chance there.

Ol Leon as probly Arlo is old enought to appreciate Ms. Russells bra advertizements and that wonderfull cleveage. Days and yrs. before silicone.....

* what good man doesn't appreciate some great cleavage????

Just like drugs. Hard to find the real stuff today.

Happy fathers day everyone!!!

Not born to Leon... dah... ( one more cup of coffee ) that would explain his musical genious tho, being breast feed to a woman of her caliber...

I meant to say related to Leon Russell.....

I guess I mentioned Leon was born Claude Russell Bridges, and had a genetic spine dissorder. Started playing keyboards at age 4 and he had to lean on the wall, or something firm, to get close enough to the keys, to support his small frame. By age 14 he lied about his age, and went on the road, opening shows for no other than Jerry Lee Lewis ( The KILLER)

The rest is history. To me, in my opinion, Leon Russell is the most talented musician around ever born, that's been screwed by the R & R Hall of fame, ntm, other things musicians get screwed by...

He's an Okie, hailing from Oklahoma, so maybe he's part Guthrie... Who knows....

No insultive messages were meant in these last post. I'm not out to degrade anyone, as ya'll probley know. I'm trying to laught, but it aint working much. If one of you, just one of you laughs, you'll make my day.
