Playing around with a new style... If you want to check it out and comment... Go to:

User Control Panel > Board Preferences > My Board Style > X-Static

Hmmmm...

I think I like it... except for one thing... the whole feel of the page is very "light" but the header "ARLO.NET" is much deeper in color.... it seems a little unbalanced - but then, maybe that's just about right for us blunderites.

I do like the ease of reading the button labels for "reply" etc.

BTW, I am aware that the birthday thing only shows the current day and there is no "who's in chat" listed (as those are both mods). If we end up switching styles I would then add those back in.

hmmm...

Another thing... in the topics, where the page numbers appear under/next to the thread title... I think the boxes for the page numbers are a bit overwhelming... maybe make them a lot lighter (almost the same color as the background)?

Editing... just to see what happens....

I agree on the green. I can't find the thing to mark all posts read so I had to switch back to the old board style...

It's there... Forum Options is a drop down menu that contains "Mark threads read".

Thanks for the info. I think I'm keeping it on the current one for now cuz it is so much easier to mark all read like it is here, than to have to do a drop down menu...

Changed the quote color.... Anything else? Anyone? I'm leaning towards moving to this style once I get it tweaked to my liking I think... So if you don't speak up now, you may be stuck with it. Still working on the quote button - that's a biggie.

Dave,

I truly wanted to help, but ever since you started this, I've been hunting for "User Control Panel." (Note to others: it's hard to see-it's in a thin white font at the lower left corner of the gray frame around the "art" at the top.)

So now that I found it, I went there, and under "Board Preferences" are these:

Edit global settings (with no active link)
Edit display defaults (active link)
Edit display options (active link)

There is no "My Board Style."

I'm using Firefox, Mac 10.4.11.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, as long as you're making changes...something I've REALLY missed is the directory of users, with an alpha index at the top.

Thanks for all that you do!

Shelley

Dave,

I looked at control panel and saw you could sort by date posted and realized the first post was August 25, 1999 . could that mean that ...tomorrow is Arlonet's 10th birthday!
Good time for a new look!
MG

Actually it was the "BlunderBoard" that first made it's appearance then. ArloNet officially went online April 10, 1995.
