40 years ago in September I started teaching. That year a few of us yungen teachers took some high school kids to see Woodstock, the movie. Yes, that was allowed then, but we were allowed to wear only skirts or dresses to work. No pants and certainly no jeans. Now teachers look like they're going camping.

Ya know, edjukation is still as f***ed up now as it was then.

Congrats to both of you ... on all your 40's. BUT.. I have to know, for 40 years now, that song, Alice's Restaurant, has been popping in my head at the oddest times like a "brain worm"! Does it do this for all? grin. :D

Agreed- it was for a good cause!!

Happy 40th Anniversaries for all those events in 1969, Arlo.

And if you believe RS Sept 3 issue, the last photo shot of the Beatles was forty years ago today.

40 years should be the new time period to reflect.

Performing at Woodstock pales slightly beside a 40th Wedding Anniversary and the pride you, Jackie and your kids must feel in holding it together as a couple and a family all this time. What a beautiful, blessed gift ~ a Lifetime Love. Congratulations and best wishes. The Woodstock thing ~ still defintely beyond awesome. Happiness Always :) p.rollins a.k.a. Maggie Mae

Oh, yeah .. it does, and it always makes me happy. But I'm betting the worst "sufferer" of that "affliction" is Arlo.

A very happy anniversary to you and Jackie. The farm ,the Film, the music, the love, the humor.

I remember at one of your shows you had said," Mrs G and yourself had tried to get a divorce a few times but it never worked out". Thank Goodness for that.
Peter and I are coming up to 20 years in January and like you guys we tried divorceing a few times but ours didn't work either. So here we are, all's well in our relationships doting on our Granchildren, "who would have thunk it"
In times like these extended families seem to be the norm. Forty years ago, if you had a friend and the parents were divorceing it was looked down upon I am happy to say Any idiot can get married, it takes true love to work at it, and stay married. Not just for the sake of the children, but for eachother.
Again happy anniversary to you both.

I remember Arlo at Woodstock. There were some 200,000 people clamoring for him to sing Alices's Restaurant, and he WOULD NOT sing it, I guess he was sick of it at the time. This guy is just not about peace and love he also has as they say cojones.
Any how good luck Arlo. I can not see any sane person being in the Republican Party of the USA but that is your choice I guess. It seems to me that under the guise of freedom liberty and all that stuff they are pushing corporate monopolism, industrial military complex, and even some really dumb stuff like creationism.

Ya know... I think it's cool that Arlo has an (R) after his name... I'm not as brave as he is, but if I'm not mistaken, the idea is to "infiltrate" the Republican Party, and change them from the inside.

you know... "til we outnumber 'em"

@wyldflower: T-Bone Burnett refers to him at Jon Taplin's blog as "my favorite Republican". It can't be anything but a conspiracy.
