One of the best Vietnam Era songs. I didn't go to Vietnam but had family and friends who did. I remember seeing my first bong pipe from one of those people after they came home. Made of bamboo and it would crack if you used it. You could seal the cracks by burning candles and letting the wax fill in the holes. We always had plenty of multicolored candles to decorate the bong! We would sit there, me, my family and friends and the bong, and listen to this song. It seems to me they never told anyone about some of the things that they experienced while they were away.

Some things change. I have not smoked a bong in along time. But I still like the last three minutes of the song and its cosmic sounding madness.

Some things don't (change). I listen to this and think of what happens to people who spend their time practicing war. Like Sgt. Bales for instance!

'nother good one heraclitis!

kevin, when i was listening to the song you posted, after a minute i remembered marilyn whirlwind telling a similar story on northern exposure...i guess it is one of them stories!

there were some funny moments on that show (don't watch much tv these days, but i used to like watching that show)...like when joel was curious as to what marilyn might possibly be pondering during her long periods of silence and she says, "clips" and he is like, "clips?" and she is like, "well not all the time. sometimes i think of colors" and he is like "colors?" and she is all, "blue mostly. and beige" :)

Northern Exposure was (is) one of my favorite shows of ALL time. Really interesting characters. Marilyn one of the coolest. Chris the DJ, and what was his name, Ed? the film maker. I could go on and on about that show, so I better stop......what a gem!

Now that was different. Not the test but the way to present it. I don't have the audio, but I like the method of the test.
