I will just throw this out here because i am and have been a Brad Paisley fan for years and, as a anti racist southern man proud of my roots, I love what he is doing!

As god presents herself as a dangerous concept with pressure cookers full of nails and shit, I think of other things!

I don't know where the notion starts
Somehow I am perceived as out of touch
You know, a reductionist fool
viewing the world in nth dimensions
precisely calculating reality
or apparently dreaming of that
possibility
imagine me, proposing a sterile
predetermined world
without inter-species, ney,
inter-eco
inter
action

it has been so long since the dream
of the little turtle
that went
the wrong
way

I mean
people tell me
this is what you think
I'm like
what?
(they say)
That is your philosophy

HMMMM?

No that might be
your philosophy
defining
mine!

(Bruce and Kelly should have won all those Americana awards)

it is not really me as an individual
because I, as an individual can
take my stand

However collectively
from a distance
well??

I guess it is just a case of

when i say from a distance
i mean how one perceives
or stereotypes
like "oh, he is a Dead Head"
what image does that conjure
in the mind's eye

i suppose that could be a rhetorical question (?) ,
or maybe not, but it does remind me of a story...sometime in the 80s i think? i was over walking around in the merchants district in my neighborhood, and was approached by someone who launched into a conversation at the middle of the conversation. i mean something like, "he is still in the hospital, and they say it is still serious!" i didn't know her, but she said it like i most certainly know what she is talking about. so i am like, "oh! what is this now?" and she expresses again the seriousness and as if i know exactly where she is coming from, so i am like, "who is this now?" she is almost aghast and says, "jerry!" and i am still a bit out of context and i am searching my mind, who do i know around here by the name of jerry? and i say something like, "i am not sure that i know him." and she is like, "aren't you a dead head?!" and i am like, "well i do enjoy some of their music, but i....what?" (by then i put it together that she was referring to jerry garcia of course, and that i hadn't yet heard this news) and then she is like, "you are a poser!" and i am like, "what???" i examined my appearance and i do remember i did have on a tie dyed t-shirt i'd gotten from a local artist which i thought was really awesome that had a tie dyed star with really cool colors and trails like a shooting star, not like a sideways shooting star, but like one that was coming straight at you,,, if you were in like outer space or something.... anyway, i just went back to talking about jerry, expressing my genuine concern.
i did think that was an interesting encounter.

Doesn't that just demonstrate everything I said?

The way you looked made the woman assume things about you. Might be true might not! All from a distance.
As an individual, you could "take a stand" on Jerry and the Dead.
