Pat, american fork is a suburb of salt Lake City, it;s nice there maybe you ought to go with them,
Canyonlands however is standing rock country, canyons and vistas beyond compare, remote and difficult to get into, ahhhh but ricj in history and adventure. No phones, except maybe Moab, it's were the film "Stagecoach" was filmed among many other westerns.
It is very near Gallup New Mexico except you can't get there from Utah.
I love that country, I would work there for free, of course the money would be nice as well.

Then there's those of us who, like weeds, are nearly impossible to uproot entirely once we take a liking to the neighborhood. That's not necessarily a bad thing: hemp, for example, is a nice weed to have around. Not that I'm nearly as nice to have around as hemp, just that weeds taking a liking to the neighborhood is not necessarily a bad thing.

Speaking of which ... thanks to those of you who have been going out of your way to infuriate my (actual blood) brothers and the local bad guys, even though you're not doing what you're doing so as to deliberately infuriate anyone. However -- by trying to help me (and being unbribable besides) you are accomplishing what no one has accomplished before. You are upsetting their plans. They aren't off my back, and my situation has changed yet (due to those who have been successfully bribed by them in the past), BUT ... they are furious, which is a wonderful thing from where I stand. This may be the first time anyone has dared to question and/or circumvent their authority -- besides me, I mean -- which makes them very, very unhappy campers.

Not only are you questioning their authority, you're questioning their world view. Apparently no one had ever told them before that they had to be elected in this country to run things ... and I know for a fact that they must have missed the part about slavery being abolished, the way they treat people. Some have tried to reason with them on occasion, but you can't use reason with their kind. It doesn't work. This really is a transference thing -- they see themselves when they look at me, and me when they look at themselves. If they hadn't been so good at being sneaks, I would have had some idea of what they were doing a long time ago, and it woudln't have come to this in the first place.

Please be careful around this town, though. There are nice people here, but there are lots more con-artists than there are artists. This is the only place I've ever lived where "getting over on" someone is generally accepted as a marker of intelligence. Keep in mind that a whole bunch of people have been getting away with a huge scam for a very long time now, and won't appreciate getting caught or seeing their free joy-ride come to an end. The rest like to appear to know what's going on -- especially because they don't -- and will make it up as they go along if it gets them attention. (If it gets them money, they will tell you whatever they think you want to hear, as long as it will benefit them in some way.) And of course, some are simply delusional, and actually believe that what they are telling you did happen.

Look out for jealousy too, BTW. It's kind of epidemic.

Also, thanks for the rides. I know there've been times when I've been more than a little self-absorbed and haven't displayed enough common courtesy to show an interest in you. You're interesting people, besides being nice. It hasn't escaped me.
