Tomorrow, they are playing at The Stage Center.
I doubt if I'll be at either event, but sure would love to see 'em, especially w/ Randy. I cant picture him.

I never met an Okie I didn't like. Only met a few so far. Had one in my house this past June and he was amazed that only a few days before I had sat right next to Arlo Guthrie himself!! "Gosh" he said, "his dad Woody is from Oklahoma and they're both real famous people over there!" He was a real nice guy. Married recently to one of my sisters best friends from Oregon. They were on vacation here.

If it's a stir-fry at the O.K. Corral, Jay's a contender, with his Thai pork curry, or his shrimp & seasonal veggies, or his fried rice, or . . . . Me, I'll bring a plate and sticks.

No Alas, I was considered to young to make the Hendrix concert. I have a brother who went and some friends. When you go in that little old basketball place and imagine Hendrix cranking that sound out in there its hard to believe. I didn't make the trip to Dallas to see the '71 Stones tour either. Or the CSNY of the same year (again know lots of people). But I did see N Young at the Myriad on the (in)famous I hate concerts give me a shot of Tequila tour (Time Fades Away album with cover shot at the Myriad and some of the songs recorded there) Linda Ronstadt started the show and she was great. Half way through she said, "Sneeky Pete's Pedal Steal didn't make the trip, you have know idea what you are missing (I much later ('80's) saw Sneaky Pete with Gib Guilbeau, Skip Battin, Gene Clark and Rick Roberts at the ZOO and understood). Young walked behind a speaker and took a shot of Tequila and a roar of applause filled the Arena. "Wow, I didn't know anybody was back there!". He turned around and played an Acoustic set for the people behind the band. THey didn't allow rock and roll back to the Myriad for some time (no great loss the place was way to big) because Young and band apparantly went a little goofy backstage (Tequila!) and the crowd was a little rowdy. Later, they revised this policy after they had the National Finals Rodeo in the Hall and realized what rowdy really is! Other shows from back then include Jethro Tull with the Eagles backing them up (the Eagles were Bernie Leadon, Glen Frey and Randy Meisner all Acoustic and their first album with Witchy Woman hadn't been released yet (so you can't tell me they didn't have a star maker behind them). There was also the Grateful Dead show (now released as Dicks Pick's #19 I think) at the Fairgrounds Arena in '73. It was that huge wall of sound tour with "festival seating" meaning no chairs. I was about 15 yards out from the stage (if you are looking for a good recording of the early '70's Dead its a keeper). I also made the trip to Fort Worh to See Dylan and the Band (Before the Flood) We snuck a little cassette recorder in and later went to South Jock (SOKC Junior College) and mixed the recording out. It came out pretty good. I swear the side of the Album with It's alright Ma was recorded in Fort Worth (the tape and album recording including crowd noise lined up perfectly). Concerts used to be so cheap back then and I saw way too many really good shows. That Prine show was awesome. I also saw Prine at the Loyd Noble and he backed up George Carlin.

The first time I saw Arlo was at the Loyd Noble when he was on the Fred Harris For President Tour! His story that night was the significance of the Pickle (I knew it wasn't the best song I ever wrote!)My brother got a stack of Fred Harris for President bumper stickers and stuck them all over everything (he even put one on Wishbone the Blue Tip Mut (half Bluetip / half Browndog) Wonderdog. Great dog! We were camping in Rocky Mountain State park one time and Mike said,"Wishbone go find me a woman!". The dog ran into the campers and I looked at Mike and said,"you can't be serious?" Sure enough here comes Wishbone down the trail with the nicest woman you ever did see,"Is this your dog?"
