Dear Cheryl: As Dave said, I'm really no good at this type of stuff. I cannot imagine what a person goes thru, losing a soul mate. And to hear of you losing some of your most personal prized possessions, that you aquired with Mike is sad too.

But please understand, your in my prayers, as everyone elses. Time does heal all wounds, but something of this magnitude is gonna take ALLOT of time. We can't kid ourselves, as I'm sure your still grieving, and you have a ruff road to hoe. But keep on hanging in there, as I'm sure that Mike would want you to. From everything I've heard about Mike, he was a quiet, laid back, and gentle man. There should be more guys like him... Peace loving, the whole 9 yards.

In the future, if it helps ( and this is only an idea, but I would hope it might help) make a list of the material things you lost. Things that were dear to you, and Mike. Most of them are replaceable, on e-bay, and in gargage sales. You might find them in the strangest places. And when you find a lost item, just believe, Mike is looking down upon you, knowing you'd want it.... It's not going to be easy. But understand your in my prayers. I've never met you, but I've learned over the yrs. just how much you were into 'Arlo Guthrie' and the 60's, ect..... I believe the world at large, who has been fortunate enough to meet Arlo, and enjoy his music and storys, is special... It's a bond, we all share here on arlonet...

Thanks for the support & prayers. They mean alot. So sorry I am venting on here folks but I fell like I'm at home here. I can tell you all are connected to the 60's & 70's as I am. I am definitely a weird one. The liberals think I'm too conservative. The conservatives think I'm too 60's hippie. But I'm just me lol. We'll get thru it somehow...

Cheryl, I don't think you are the slightest bit weird. And don't feel sorry for venting, take your time. It's perfectly normal to want to vent.

Cheryl, you are a very unique and special human being. And humans are inherently paradoxical; your paradox of existing somewhere between the worlds of liberalism and conservatism is a badge of honor for your rugged individualism. I dislike labels like that anyway; they have little to reveal about a person's true inner nature. You've been through alot I know (my wife of 20 years passed away suddenly 4 years ago), so all I can tell you is to breathe deeply and breathe often, and open yourself to a new world of possibilities, or least know they are there for you. Remember, the way in which you perceive and look at the world, and the way that the world looks at you has changed since your tragic loss occurred, and it will take time and strength to get used to it. You have both in great quantities. And never apologize for "venting", as you put it.....I feel that that's one of the main reasons I'm (we're) here. Allow yourself some peaceful time, and I really hope you find your stuff! Peace, Kevin

Cheryl , its oke that you wright abouth your feelings here . It works as a kind of therapy for you . Its much better to talk with us than to isolate yourself . Yep, what everyone said. Cheryl, it's therapeutic to write it down... it's a catharsis, makes you feel better when you share it with others. After my father died, I wrote a "paper" that ended up being 30 pages long... submitted it for a death and dying class... called "It's Okay to Laugh." Was one of the best pieces I've ever written. Might even publish it online someday.

Start compiling every post you've made here, copy and paste into a Word document. Save it... add to it... it'll definitely help you as time goes by. Eventually, the "worldly goods" that are gone won't matter nearly as much as your written thoughts.

Hello Cheryl, I don't know if you remember me it has been some time since I was last here. I am so sorry that I should come back to hear such sad news. My Alan is 48 and I wouldn't like to think, it is such a young age, I truly am sorry to hear of your loss. I doubt there isn't anything I coulsd say that others more close to you haven't said, but Know that you are in my thoughts.

Oh Cheryl! Connie Horn just told me about your husband Mike's passing....I'm SO VERY, VERY SORRY.
Please know that I'm sending you huge love and hugs. I'm still in a sad state of shock ...I can't imagine how You must be feeling. I'm most always here now these days, so do get in touch if I can be of any help....

Welcome back you two. Do drop by more often. Folks who aren't on here in awhile are missed. Thanks for the wishes. He was my soul mate & I will never find another one. Beverly's hubby is my age. Thanks for the thoughts... Good news. My mom talked to the auction people & I can go there today and go thru the stuff to see if any of my stuff I wanted to keep is in there. And if it is I can get it. I need prayers& vibes that I can find my cd's,records and cassettes of Arlo, the Monkees, Tommy James, Spindrift Liberate (a late 60's and early 70's rock group my cousin was in. They had an album & I had a copy of but have now lost it in the move to my folks.), my cd's of hymns and Christmas music on dulcimer, my 8-track tapes and my dvd's of old tv shows from the 50's, 60's & 70's. I am esp looking for my Starsky and Hutch, Here Come The Brides, Mod Squad, Partridge Family and Gomer Pyle dvd's.

My mom is driving me nuts. She just came in here a few mins ago telling me I need to go to bed. Excuse me, but I go to bed whenever I please...

I am really hoping you find your stuff... was doing some "thinking" about it over the weekend... let us know!


Cheryl, she's "mom," but you need to remind her that you're a grown woman and that you need time to digest what's happened. Is there any way you can "get away" even for a few days of R&R? You really need some space!
