Right after Carnegie, my sister's horse, Easy Rider developed colic and died of it early last week. He was 21 and she'd had him for 16 years. Basically, Vicky's whole life - where she lives, why she lives here with us and all her life arrangements were based around getting to have a horse and Easy was a great one for her. He was a lovely little horse and his personality matched his name. I didn't get here to ask for vibes...probably a big mistake...because it was sudden and basically she was called to the barn one morning and came back the next and he was gone and everything was crazy since then.

Anyway, a few of you know my sister, so I thought I'd let you know about this here.

Sad news, pat. From one horse owner to another, tell your sis that Easy's in the big pasture in the sky where the pastures are full of alfalfa and they're always green.

I'm sorry for Vicky's loss. The critters who we make a part of our lives give us so much. Loyalty, unconditional love, happiness, companionship and much more forgiveness than we deserve. And most are gone in such a short time. More's the pity for us. But we are blessed to have them for that time that they are here and often undeserving of the magnitude of their love. That our souls can connect so closely without words is a wonder and a gift.

Pat, Please give Vicky my regards and tell her I know how she feels because I've had horses all my life and have lost a few. Having those loving eyes staring into yours as life ebbs away is the most heartwrenching thing in life whether it be a beloved person or an animal with whom you have that special bond. And if you've formed that bond, animals love you no matter what.
