... literally.

Yesterday I received a diagnosis of breast cancer. It isn't spreading, and probably can be completely removed via a lumpectomy, followed by radiation, and maybe chemo. I discovered the lump in mid-July, and have been using the services of the Colorado Womens Cancer Care Initiative. I have an appointment with the surgeon, and will probably have the surgery in a couple of weeks (the soonest they can do it).

I'm in VERY good spirits - I have some very dear friends who have survived just this sort of thing. They are a major part of my support system. I'm going to beat this. My plan is to treat it aggressively, and use some complementary therapy - primarily diet and exercise.

I don't need sympathy, but any "confine that thing to where it is" vibes and healing blundervibes that you could send would be greatly appreciated.

I'm finally in my own apartment, and just tonight got my internet connection. I'll try to be around a bit more, but be patient with me. And PLEASE... take care of yourselves... make sure you get your checkups regularly... both the women and the men. Your health is one of the most important assets you have.

Dear Wyld: I was so glad, that you IM'd me tonight. It was great chatting with you & I'm glad you caught me up to speed with what all your going through. As a great friend, I was taken aback. Lets just say, I had mixed emotions. But I find your courage, and strenght in this setback, very inspriring. If anyone can beat this type of thing, it'd be you. Your positive attitude, will do great things in your healing process....

Certainly, the road, won't be all peachy and creamy.... But, keep up with that attitude, that you can beat this thing, and you will. I have faith in you dear!!! And I have faith in God. God will be there, right by your side through all of this.... And believe me when I say, you'll be in my prayers, nite and day.... Sue's too!!! ( she's sleeping soundly right now, but I know she will be in your corner )( saying her Indian Prayers to the Creator )

I guess you might be able to tell, I'm really set back by this news. I'm running outta words, as they aren't coming easy, as they usually do...

I guess the important thing is, your in our prayers, and you've been such a dear friend over the yrs..... We'll be plugging for you.... All the way... You have great Drs. and a support system like NO OTHER. After all, we're blunderites... We can accomplish anything!!!!

I don't know what to say................except I'll be with you Wyld, and I will take heed of what you said above. I have just had all my yearly check ups (but one) and am in good health. The 'but one' is a mammogram. I have never had one (I'm tough, but always worried that all that squashing might do more harm that good) tho' my doctor urges me to every year. I'm going to make an appointment to have one because of you.
So good to hear you have lots of support, and 'confine that thing' vibes are heading to you from DownUnder.

Well, if your lumpectomy is anything like the lumpectomy I used to give my oatmeal in the morning, watch out for the spoon!

But otherwise, you know my thoughts are always with ya' wyld!
