Happy Solstice everyone. It's Friday afternoon here and tomorrow Sat 21 June at 9:59 PM it will be Winter Solstice here. I'm off to Brisbane early tomorrow to help my folks with some stuff then my daughter, Jess, and I are off to The Winter Solstice Festival at Northey Street City Farm.

Trouble is my brother is playing with his band in a sort of Battle of the Bands on the other side of town so we're gonna try to fit both in.
It's a deal started by a store that sells instruments and music, they even have their own auditorium where they hold it.
They get a bunch of music playing people around our ages together. They put up a list of songs and you pick one you like an say which instrument you play or if you sing. Then they fit people together to make bands. Your band practices together for so many weeks then everyone gets together
to compete. But it's all just good fun and a chance for a bunch of aging musos to do their thing that they may have put on hold while doing all the stuff live having a job and kids etc.

Have a good one. Both events sound like fun. Tonite we are off to stay with my folks Fri-Sun eve even tho they live locally. Cuz my mom is going to the river with some church ladies coming back Sun & needs me to watch my dad. So Mike & I will stay with him. He's in his 80's and not much trouble to watch. Just make sure he goes to the bathroom so he doesn't wet himself, make sure he takes his meds & then make sure he's okay. My folks have cbale internet & satellite dish so I am all set...

Man, you people in Oz do everything upsidedown docha? A winter solstice in june of all things. I think I'm gunna travel someplace to the equator and just keep hopping over the line yelling " Summer! Winter!" depending on which side I'm on.Or perhaps I'll just stand right ON the line and be a man with or for no seasons whatsoever. I think that would work. I've never been anywhere where it wasn't a season. I like to try new things.

Here, today (this night now!), it is the Music Day "la Fête de la musique".It takes place, every year, on june 21 (...usually summer solstice )
