She doesn't visit these boards too often, but she's been a dear friend of mine for years, and it's all Arlo's fault. Happy Birthday, Shirley! And many, many more!

I think I see a chonklit eclaire in my future......

:D

Shirley you know that I wish you a happy birthday... and most Shirley you realize that copious amounts of chonklit cake must now be consumed... I'm putting judy in charge of seeing that you follow these birthday instructions just as Shirley as possible...

I heard from Shirley this afternoon. She was leaving work early to get ready for the possible arrival of Ike in the near future. For those of you who don't know Shirley, she lives in Houston. Anyway, she told me not to worry about her if I don't hear from her for several days, since there's a good chance that the power will go out in her area if the storm hits hard. I told her if it does, and she has a package of eclairs in the fridge, she's gonna have to eat them all right away, so they don't go to waste. Waste not, want not, and all that--just like Arlo's family. But anyway, if any of you email her and don't hear from her, she was gonna be tending to hurricane prep today, and may not be able to get in touch with you during or after the storm, but I'm sure she'll be happy to receive all your birthday wishes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRLEY!!!
Connie said to tell you happy birthday too...and we wished we could have sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you at midnight in the car like you did for Connie on the way back from Woodyfest.......but it was too hard to work ot, all of us in different places and time zones, you know.... :P
You have such a wonderful sense of humor, kind, loving heart and you hold your own so well in a car with us!! I sure am blessed that you are a part of my life, part of my mystery novel world :)
What I remember most about September 11th is how happy I am that you were born!!
Love,
Kitty

I spoke with Shirley about an hour ago, and she was in the process of "hunkering down" for the storm, has water, flashlights, etc and may spend storm time with her son.
I asked her if she did anything special for her birthday and she said she went to the doctor and got her yearly check up.
I asked what the doctor said and she said he told her she has a good heart,

I could have told her that for free!

Happy Birthday, Shirley. One thing you can't complain about is to have no action or excitement on your birthday. I hope Mr. Ike decides to take a turn and goes back on his ocean cruise.
All the best to you, duck well.
Brigitte
