This isn't really for the war effort, but I've been trying to get a replicator for years. Could you please put me down for one of those as soon as they come in?

I saw one of those in the new joint venture Fredricks of Hollywood/Sharper Image catalog.

I wouldn't worry too much about Times Square this year, the terrorists will know it's too heavily guarded, as it will likely be even more beefed up then it was for the millenium two years ago. If they don't know that, then they're as dumb as that asinine wanna-be shoe bomber.
But yeah, i hold my heart in my mouth thinking about a tommorow sometimes too. Praying for one at this point. Osama bin Laden isn't the biggest worry either, the other guy who is one of bin laden's top dogs is the real dude running things, and he defects every two seconds. We need to watch him.
Not that I wouldn't be unhappy to see bin Laden blown to bits, or some such death...no, too quick...anywho, peace, i must turn my thoughts to peace...good JuJu everybody!

A fickle taser? One that just shoots anyone at random when the trigger is pulled, not excluding the trigger puller? Cool idea. It was considered a good plan to cut down on handgun violence.....but ya know, I'm quite sure there would still be some that would take the chance!

Let's just say that at times like these, there are a few philosophical concepts that I really, really hope are real. Such as: karma, reincarnation, and the theory that at death one experiences for one's self the effect one has had on anyone else during one's lifetime. (Like say, if you punched somebody in the nose, you feel that exact punch land on your own nose. Or if you did something particularly nice for someone else, you get to feel what it was like to be on the receiving end of that, too -- as though you are doing everything in life to yourself, same as you do it to the next guy.)
If these things are real, then all I have to worry about is what I do unto others, as it were, and about doing my best wherever I am.
Well ... I'll still worry about other stuff, too, but karma and reincarnation can be very comforting ideas sometimes.

So can replicators be comforting ideas. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif" width=15 height=15> I can't wait until we've got those around the house, Pat. (Phasers set on 'tickle' are kinda' cool too, I gotta admit.)

Star Trek definitely has us spoiled. My next year's Christmas list includes a replicator for all but recreational cooking, a phaser set on max for all the you-know-who's, including Voldemort and OBL et al., and a Blunderite holodeck.

Muffy, I do believe in Karma. (sound of hands clapping) Sometimes you have to wait a long, long time. Sometimes you'll never see it in this lifetime. But more often than not, if you don't interfere, it does come to pass eventually. (If you do interfere, then you own karma becomes involved, and the dynamic will change.) It's entirely possible that it's wishful thinking, but what I've experienced seems to say it it is so, and so I believe. (Sound of corduroy.) Take heart.
