I have a lot of respect for Dave too, just cuz he's republican doesn't mean he's not a nice person.

I too am flawed, beyond belief!

DRR, maybe you could borrow the brain cell for a while, though I doubt you really need it.

Ugh, I'm not that good at math.

But Cher has so kindly offered me use of the brain cell, so I'll work that math problem out when I can. I hope she includes the instructions.

At my age the truth is sometimes I stop to think and nothing happens.

I think Larry or Wyld can give you the instructions for the brain cell. All my have flown south for the winter and are getting a nice tan while enjoying the ocean.

I've been told that once upon a time I had a brain cell but it must have been a long time ago (at least a few moments) because I can't remember anything about it.......

I should not be so bold as to interfere with the dopamine habits of others, but we've been having this debate at Jon Taplin's blog since last year. Being from Alabama, I get the "racist backwoods redneck" stuff and since stereotyping is a low form, there isn't much to say.

On the other hand...

I'm a fan because Arlo made sense out of the nonsense of the 60s and 70s, being to folk what MAD Magazine was to politics: a way to look at it without making more enemies. It made it work.

I've been watching the YouTube videos (THANK YOU MRS. GUTHRIE!), and what he said about having more in common with people who give a damm despite the side of the issue they are on really brought it home for me. It makes growing up on the wrong side of history easier to take. This is my tribe.

And "I Can't Help Falling In Love with You" IS the perfect folk song. ;-)

"Nothing From Nothing" by the 5th Beatle?, RIP Billy Preston (6/6/06)

Or, as I like to say "The Most Exciting Organ Ever"

I have no respect for the political games that are played by the people Dave uses as sources...the Limbaughs and Coulters and Falwells and such.....the world is in a seriously bad situation and I believe it is this pointing fingers bullshit has to go! I mean for instance...American health care could not be in a more precarious position.. It is destroying our economy because we have no standard coverage for the American citizen and burden our economy with bizarre insurance schemes to pay the cost for those that are insured. It is a horrible economic burden but if you ask Dave he would probably blow off health care reform as some dangerous tax and spend socialist pyramid scheme (oh sure, burden me with the health care of the homeless kind of bullshit). That is what I hear from the conservative philosophical do nothings where I work.

We are in a period where economic theory of the past no longer applies and that means there will be some experimental approaches if we are going to survive. (Conservatives don't seem to understand that we are a Capitalist Society in Rhetoric only in reality we are still an Aristocratic Socialist State or as some in Russia are now calling us ... we are National Socialists).

It is not about love, I love everybody, as Frank Zappa said..I love the police as they are kicking the shit out of me

It is about making the world a place that works...

NEWS FLASH...IT DOES NOT WORK!!!! I really can't believe we could be going back into a polarized nationalistic he said she said world after the lessons of the last century...OH WELL!!! It is what it is!

Can we make the world "a place that works" without a solution based on love.

What is the lesson learned in the last century and the present?

That there is no such thing as a smart bomb?

That to solve our problems is to solve their problems?

Schools and hospitals work, gitmo does not.

Stop the hate, love thy neighbor (and falwells neighbors)
