fuck the insurance companies, I have not trusted those bastards for years and they are the ones that made the bet! That is their job, assessing the danger and taking the risk! right? what is your beef, because it sounds unfair to insurance companies? If insurance companies had to take the risk then your boy GW would not have been so quick to get Americans blown to bits! Right? Is it me?

This may have been a crappy and tone-deaf idea, but it wasn't because it would have resulted in any veteran being denied health care for service-connected injuries -- the proposal was not to make those veterans use private insurance to pay, but for the VA to provide care and then bill the private insurer, if there was one. Veterans groups criticized the proposal because it could have made it harder for veterans and their families to get private insurance (which they may need for non-service-connected health care (VA already bills private insurers for that) and family health care) or to find a job if employers feared a rise in premiums from health insurers.

Personally, I always lean toward thinking that the one who is responsible for an injury to another should be responsible for the consequences, no matter what the costs (so government should pay for any veteran's service-connected health care because government created the situation in which the injury occurred), but if Obama is to be criticized, it should be for what he actually proposed.

Yeah, BH was the first to show me the web. Now she tells everyone she regrets that. I told her that putting pix of officers on global sites was a good way to get them killed. She said that was cold war thinking and we didn't face any enemies. After BH put up those web pages and told all the IETMers to give it up to HTML, about two years later, DoD was scrambling to take the pages down. Long story. As I said, another life. I moved on to to work with the XML emergence and play sheepdog. It was exciting. At one point, Charles (Dr. Goldfarb) was a little disheartened and I told him. "Doc, we won. We just have to give up the credit, but everything we were shooting at has happened."

My problem was sitting in the local food court in 89 and realizing the Meade folks and Langley would use it for 24x7 surveillance. Turned out the marketing demographics guys would use it more.

On the other hand, we got what we wanted. Artists are global sheepdogs now and that is brilliant and marvelous and just might help the final goal: to enable worldwide befriending. Friends don't usually use thermonukes on other friends. That is why the message of tolerance, compassion and self-restraint are so important. Arlo has made that a part of his message since before Alice. That is why he was my hero when I was a kid and has been ever since. The 'slinger stayed on the path. Others like me, the universe had another job for me to do, but it left me my music to keep me company on that road. I'm awfully glad it led me back to the Inner Arlo. That feels... round.

When looking at the geese, I like to think they visit Langley too. It helps when those guys understand what the rest of us have to walk through when they screw up.

It must be those air force guys sending the geese on sorties to dive bomb the navy guys.
