i am sorry i missed them...and what i did manage to see i read so fast as i was on my way to running out the door!

all i can remember are just a few key words and that there was a quote by someone named vincent sheean (or at least i think he had something to do with it)...but the quote itself is a blur!

Could be a backup bug, could be the thread goblins. Maybe another decomposer. Or we've said what was worth saying.

Reading other places, looks they had an excellent weekend at the Guthrie Center. Peace in the small places seems like a good way to pass Memorial Day.

Chrono: having to do with time.
Synch: from synchronize; "equivalent" and chrono (again, time).
Lastic: flexible; moldable; changeable (like "plastic").

Basically, it means "Ripples in Celery Time."

It might be useful to understand the lines that have been drawn and the agreements by which they were laid down. The states you see on the maps in that region did not exist before 1919 so ancient claims have not a lot of traction. Otherwise, one would be ceding the land back to the Ottoman Turks. again, to deny the relevance religion has to the unrest in the middle east seems,,,well i just don't understand it.
and to acknowledge such relevance makes a person evil? never mind to want to go deep into the understanding.
i think it is good to understand and/or to want to understand the connections?

Religion matters but to each as each believes. How would a third party be part of the negotiation?

For example, all three of the dominant religions in that area share holy places. Here one may be negotiating access but just how do the religious authorities and the state first negotiate to negotiate? Is this easier or harder in a state based on separation of church and state given a state negotiation and a religious negotiation have different authorities? Is it easier or harder if the negotiation among different states with different state-recognized religions given the agreements of the state and the agreements among the religious authorities are theoretically in accord? How do third parties address these?

For example, a claim to the right to be a Jewish state or an Islamic state is not something a third party can negotiate. Local choice.

It isn't as simple as saying 'religion can play no role' but simpler if the third party doesn't attempt to be part of that negotiation but rather addresses the terms of international law. Here there is a history of agreements that act as precedents.
