Give me dry and subtle humor any day, at least if you want a sincere laugh from me -- but far be it from me to tell someone else what should or should not be funny to them, or to keep them away from it. I never went nuts over Benny Hill, either. What can I tell ya'?

My own mother had what I consider a very realistic and intelligent approach to parenting, and I do many of the same things she did when I'm around children in a parental capacity. First, she read as much as she could get her hands on, so that she could answer our questions. Second, she felt that once a child turns thirteen, they are going to do what they are going to do, regardless of parental approval or permission. Her job as a parent, she felt, was to make sure we did it where she could keep an eye on us, so we wouldn't get hurt -- and to keep the lines of dialogue between us open, so that we could discuss with her all the various things we encountered. She didn't treat sex as being dirty or secret or weird, so we didn't grow up thinking of it as being those things. She did treat is as a private matter between two adult individuals, and I must admit, I still feel that way about it myself.

We used to give her a lot of grief about not giving us anything to rebel against, but none of us did crazy rebellious stuff, either. Well -- none except my oldest brother, who chose to live with my father (whose approach to parenting was diametrically opposite to my mother's) when my parents split up.

Where I draw the line with anything is when victimization enters the picture. Whether it's child porn or ridiculing someone, that which causes pain isn't funny to me at all. (Odd: I don't laugh much when my eye teeth are being drilled by the dentist, either.)

OK, what i see is, anyone has the right to enjoy "stupid" humor, using my definition, from earlier post, and has the right to publish it, or air it. I don't believe in any kind of censorship, save child porn, and excessive violence.(again, my def, of what that is..)
But, while anyone has the right to stupid humor, I don't choose to seek it out....

Your mother sounds like a wonderful and wise person. I think she raised her daughter to be much like herself.

Kerry, what on Earth could be more important then a man with singing balls? Goverments come and go, but change what a man can do with his balls and that is something worth talking about, just ask any man.

How does one explain what may cause one set of singing balls to be a baritone and another to be a tenor? Does this have anything to do with testoserone vs. estrogen levels??? Or, could it be like that beer commercial with the street lugers?? Inquiring minds want to know.
