I just got home from work so will have to watch it all tonight. There has been way more coverage here than past elections Most people here in this country will be VERY HAPPY I know very few who didn't want Obama because of their ignorance about him.

This election proves one thing. That my vote did not count & neither did the votes of many others like Mike & my parents. I had a funny feeling he'd win just cuz so many liberals were for him. Maybe the Wiz needs to run next time. I'd vote for him lol. If the country goes downhill in the next 4 yrs, oh well, I didn't vote him in lol...

I can tell you that I am very happy and that the people at my work are very happy about the outcome, too. My boss (MD) came in this morning unshaved doing the happy dance, saying he didn't have time to shave since he was fixed to the TV watching the election results early in the morning. And this is Germany not the US. We are also very happy that Obama won so very clear, a statement of the American people.

No, Cheryl, your vote and Mike's vote and your parents and friend's votes DID count...there just weren't enough people who shared your opinion and agreed with you. There's people like me, Jim, my family, and other people you know and love on this site who didn't vote for McCain/Palin...we're just concerned Americans who believe this country needed to go in a different direction. Just because Republicans didn't win in this election does not mean that your vote didn't count. Every election...some candidates win, some lose.

For the first time since 1964, Virginia was won by the Democratic party in the presidential election. Up here in No. VA, we're happy...our votes were the ones that tipped the balance.

Cheryl, EVERY vote counts. Who you vote for may not have won, but your vote was important.
I just came home from the US Consulate election party - what a turnout! I stopped by the corner bakery to pick up a loaf of bread and the baker asked me who had won. When I told him, he grabbed my hand, and teared up, saying that now America can become a leader again.

If the people I had voted for had made such a mess of the world as it is in today....I would be pissed off at them! That is why America has said (with feeling) to the people you did vote in ...ENOUGH!

I woke up early this morning to know the elections results. I was very happy, it's a great day for most people!
This morning in Paris, a lot of people were in streets to celebrate this event. They said, at the TV, that about 80% of French were for B. Obama , I think it's right.

Your vote very much counted, Cheryl. It is important to vote. I always vote and many times I don't win. But it all counts. And like you say... for the last seven and half years, I have had the privilage to say " I didn't vote for HIM!" LOL!
