Atlantic City New Jersey has the first east coast wind farm. People in the state (at least this area of the state) have the choice of using the regular electric company or the clean energy. The problem is that, still being in its infancy, it's more expensive to use. It does supply the energy for the county waste facility. So it is a start and hopefully as more wind farms are built the price will start coming down.

This will soon be the country of a select few. The rest of us will be begging in the streets.

Brigitte, Thank you for the pictures. They actually look pretty near the water. We have them by Atlantic City.

There are also some windmills here but there is only one electricity company and for heating, electricity is still more expensive than the other kinds of energy, at least in the north.
I live in the country in an old house, not much isolated, which is cool in summer (no need AC) but very cold the rest of the year and heating is a real problem.
We don’t know what’s the most economic. Some years ago it was fuel oil, then electricity , then gas, so people changed their boiler but now it's the same and there are not enough solar panels because of the price.
