Throw around? I'm sorry, but when a President says "we need to spread the wealth around", that sure sounds Marxist to me.

See, how the wealthy defend their wealth with emotionally trained criers to cry protect the wealth. It is a knee jerk reaction! God Bless America!

So I am a trained crier? Ok, well, that will go both ways: See how communism takes hold? With populist puppets..

I am not taking a side but obviously since the first post I do not consider Obama a Marxist and I have clearly stated that I believe there is little difference between Obama and Romney, as I consider both of them mainstream traditional American Socialist...preserve the wealthy at all costs. They may disagree a little on taxing scales but neither is out to destroy the wealthy in this country...it is just not a practical solution.

President Romney, how does that sound to ya? (but isn't he a cult member)..Ahhh, President Santorum, not just a scotch knock off from Japan but an acceptable crazy christian alternative (those Texas christians are too damn crazy...we need a more controllable crazy christian from PA). Or, President Paul, for the tea bagger in you! I am glad Newt is hangin in to protect from reality lapse, aren't you? Surely anything is better than that socialist Obama (although he seems a little more like just any other Pres since he has been in, kind of submissive to big money.. I mean even Obama care (his grand socialist vision according to those that speak loudly on the subject) really has little impact on big money? And with all this talk of infrastructure and jobs all I see in our future is to learn more chinese (chop suey just aint funny no more) or I hear Brazil is expanding, maybe there are markets down there (you gotta replace the rain forest with something after all)?

the pres just dont wear no pork pie hat

Are you saying the solution is to destroy the wealthy?

I am not judging laws as good or bad but I don't believe anyone has actually tested the legality of the interpretation of the Gramm law that might yet destroy the world economy. However, that Gramm law did not happen overnight in 1999. That fellow Gramm went on and on about the tight regulations that were dragging our economy down since the first years of Ronnie Reagan. He argued that the leaders of big money, the economy and the federal reserve had all evolved beyond the kind of mindless profit mad risk taking that led to the depression of the 30's. He argued that constraining our money made us (America) a constrained player in the world around us.

Given what happened the soundness of his argument may now be in doubt!

so now that it seems it might not have been such a good idea afterall, how about we put the other one (glass steagall) back now :)

I don't know exactly what you are trying to solve but I do believe those that are pulling down in excess of $200000 a year could handle paying for the common good a little better than those making in the $20000 range. I mean, me, I am doing fine. I help where I can and stuff. I just want to own my life with some time to spare. I don't want to impinge on nobody. I don't need to be rich or feel superior, cause

I am not trying to "solve" anything per say. I am trying to understand why it is people feel they have the right to dictate what other people should do with the fruits of their labor. It is easy for people to say what OTHERS should do because generally it doesn't apply to them. You also assume someone making $200,000 a year is doing nothing with their money but stashing it in their mattress, which is not how people become wealthy. For all you know, that person could be helping much more than you, but again, why is it any of your business? If you want to help the common good, nobody is stopping you. It is almost like you are saying it is a rich persons fault that a poor person is poor.

If you live in a country with a government someone will always dictate what you can do with the fruit of your labor.

whoa Bud, I am not the safety net that saved all those people who almost lost the fruits of their labor through greedy financial scheme fallout! The whole financial system could have collapsed as far as i am concerned! I am not the war in Iraq that made thousands wealthy while putting millions in debt to China and whoever else hold the loans on the national debt. You want to default on America's debt, it is OK with me! I am not the guy that created the taxation in the name of the common good, I just live here! You tell me how to pay the cost of that war and that greedy financial catastrophe without taking the fruits of my labor and I am on board!

By the way, I work in Corporate America, I know a little about how people "get wealthy" and accumulate "fruits of labor". Let's say you are a little more impressed than I am. That's cool! We all got our own little slim shady thing happenin! right! We are all worth what we can score from the system, right?

News Flash: Mitt pays a whopping 15% in taxes. Hell, I think I can beat that, why I pay about 30 or 35%. That is fair and equitable?

I think the financial system should have collapsed if that was to be the outcome of their greed. I don't think it would have, it was just the fear used to get the money. Fear is used to go to war such as in Iraq, fear is used to create over the top regulations such as with "climate change", and fear is used to enslave people with socialism as we see with social security and nearly every other social program on the books.

We are going to default on Americas debt, so we might as well get it over with and rip the band-aid off.

The way you pay for wars or anything else is not by confiscation. It is like saying that the only way McDonald's can earn a profit is by automatically withholding money from peoples paychecks, when in fact they make billions by charging for a product/service. The government can run the same way. They provide products and services such as roads and police to protect and enable commerce. In return they should be able to levy a sales tax when commerce indeed takes place. I have no problem with a national sales tax. I do however have a problem with people/government who tax people for EARNING money. It gets to the point where class envy takes over and the mob begins to rule the minority which is exactly the opposite idea this country was founded on.

I know a little about how people get wealthy myself, and I also know how people get poor. The two have no relation. If someone earning money meant that it made someone else poor, then it would be unethical for most people to go to work. I am all for people amassing as much wealth as they desire because it doesn't hurt me in the least. The jealous envy crowd out there however, comes up with terms like 1% and prey upon the poor to enslave them by making them feel like a victim of some kind. The fact is, most poor people do not STAY poor. I was poor at one time but I worked my way up. I never blamed the so called 1% the entire time because it wasn't their fault.

There are rich and there are poor; this is a fact of life and has been that way for thousands of years. What is the one thing that has given the poor the best chance to become rich? Capitalism.

75+ years of progressive income tax and this is still the case isn't it? That is because the income tax is a farce. It is used so politicians can scratch the back of whoever they need to, for whatever reason.

I am betting Mitt or Barack both consume more than you (or me) so were they charged a national sales tax on their consumption would that not be more equitable and "progressive"?
