please share a little about this song?

It was at a time when Northern Ireland was beginning the 'Long War' and these lads (Horslips) stepped out and blasted Ireland with their crazy music mix. I remember first really hearing the song while in Denmark and the crowd in the Disco danced for joy! Some Dublin hippy had brought it over and it was a magic moment for all of us there at the time. My darling better half, being from Dublin had already sampled this group's music and said that they all went nuts dancing to this song. The song itself is based on an old Irish tale.

Music has a way of bringing folks together and just go a crazy mad with the joy of dancing together no matter the begrudgers. We all need to get out of our 'comfort zones' and wee boxes sometimes and maybe that song and others help us to do just that? Maybe you might even give it a try sometime and as the song goes "Stay forever young". We all go through dark days but the light always has a way of shinning through.

Wow! Crossed a couple of generations and certainly another Ireland with that one Tally... My folks still love the Bing Crosby version from some film or other which was watched again and again and again! (By me Ma & Da). Never heard that other song Agnes (enjoyed) but in saying that there's probably a few 'Arlo' songs I still ain't listened too, yet. (Though I've been given a present of that LP I mentioned somewhere else "Arlo/Pete - Precious Friends 1981") Thanks again. Arlo got his hug but that was before he left his wee scent again on the kitchen floor. I suppose we were all young pups once upon a time, including ARLO and Pete! (No offence intended) Not much 'good' news on the News so its nice to listen to some good sounds going around the puddles!
