I'm too technologically challenged & computer illiterate to do that quoting thing you computer wizards do, but I want to address a couple of recent posts.

Congratulations, Kerry, on tomorrow's graduation. While you're graduating, I'll be watching my son graduate from elementary school.

I like Todd's idea of this thread as the next napster. I think it's even better, because it would take me anout 8 years to figure out how to work napster, but this site I understand. The last couple of times I saw Arlo in concert, he talked about how it has only been in recent years (relative to the total existence of the world) that people are paying others to do their singing for them. Previously, if you wanted to hear a song, you sung it to yourself. Just imagine--a cold winter night--no TV--a family huddled around a warm computer screen, scrolling down and singing the lyrics to any number of songs under this topic. I love it!

Don't expect me to post anything else for at least 15 minutes. It's going to take me about that long to sing "Desolation Row."

Bob listened to Desolation Row every night for about year a while back. I was worried. Just recently he quoted it on Rob's band's board. It's everywhere.

Right now I'm picturing a bunch of people sitting outside their cave, with the newest technology - fire - at the center of things, singing songs..and then someone shows up and tells them they're in copyright violation.

On this day of my son's graduation from elementary school, & various graduations for many of you, it seems appropriate to post these words from a commencement speech once given by the legendary Utah Phillips. It's not a lyric, but I guess it's a line or a narrative. Here goes:

"You're about to be told for the 100th time that you're one of our most valuable natural resources. Have you ever seen what we do to our valuable natural resources?"

Congradulations Kerry! I (we, as I guess many others) am very proud of you!!!
Your talking in blat how much school can suck sometimes (as life) reminds me of my miss-spent youth. I have lots of faith in your generation. And I mean that. I'm not real sure I could say that about mine....

*although some of us turned out okay. . .Image

***Songs (music) are (is) can literally save your life. Might not help your spelling, but it can make life bear-able when nothing else works...

now all that sentimentle bull-shit is thru. Believe it or not, Derek Graduated....Now my life is a living hell, as he takes a yr. off to find himself.....Wonder where the hell he got that from........Image.......

In a year, he could find himself, & possibly 2 or 3 other people, too!

'School's Out'
~Alice Cooper~

"Well, we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well, we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Well, we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
Out for summer
Out 'til fall
We might not go back at all

School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely!!"

Hey! Who can remember when that "School's Out" album came out? The album cover looked like a school desk, and opened like one. The actual record was enclosed in a pair of pink panties!

Not possible with CD's!

joe he can look in the mirror and find himself.....I guess a job would be a nice jesture, while he's busy finding himself. He seemed to have no problem finding other people....it's the job he has a hard time finding......LOL......But aye, I was young once.......

*I tried to be an over-achiever, and I can't say it got me anywhere. (well I'd have to take that last line back, given time to think about it. I can't say I'd change anything. OBVIOUSLY won't do certain things again, but I'd try anything once. I hope Derek can continue that spirit, in a safe environment......

**He'd better or I'll kick his smart-ass out the door!!!. . . . . . .Image. . . . . .

"beautiful people, I ride the same subway you do", how so very true, if only we had eyes to see the beauty all around us and to "have a party" for all these beautiful people we see each and every day, perhaps even give buttons or hugs to all those that show.

Beautyful People, Melanie (sp)

I think I would rather have a kind heart and be unable to spell, then to have perfect spelling without the kindness...
