[quote="Ceashel"]There's no way he could win, for lack of charisma and looks

But why on earth did Bush then win? :? Charisma? Looks? I seem to have a different taste than the millions who voted for him. :)
Oh yes and yes Ceashel, replenishment and giggles. When I'm stressed out or frustrated and I log into arlonet it's like a fresh breeze from the sea.
A little bit of irony, a hint of sarcasm, a mite of self-mockery, a good joke, giggles -ain't nothing as refreshing as that. So I stick with my proposal for your next government. The Larnie 8)

I was playing with my plants today at work while listening, as I do every day, to our thinking persons radio station (they are continually being accused by the right of leaning to the left too much, adg has been interviewed on there a couple of times) Anyway after the noon news they have World News. Along with Lehrer and the Net this station is where i get most of the poop on whats goin on in D.C. So today I heard George Jnr gettin really upset and banging on out how he was gonna veto everything. Well I imagined him as laying on his little tummy on the Oval office floor kicking his little legs and banging his little fists. He might have even banged his shoe the desk at one stage! Then I heard one of the BEST things I've heard in the last 6 years....... I imagined Nancy P standing over little George with one thumb tucked in her belt and the other pushing her cowgirl hat back off her brow saying..."Calm down, take a breath, there's a NEW CONGRESS IN TOWN"!!!

What a woman! Gosh has she got OVARIES!! It really made my day, I even walked around imitating her for my work mates, who also dislike W, kicking dirt, swaggering and saying what she said. It was fun.

I had a boss who did that kicking thing quite often... he'd just be standing there so frustrated and would start jumping up and down and kicking his desk... what a guy. makes me giggle every time I think about it.

Cheryl, you can be a dual citizen of any two countries (if the laws of the two countries allow it) because of your parents' citizenship status when you are born.

But if you live in Florida or perhaps Ohio, you can't even vote in one country, or thanks to the Diebold corp and the voting machines they make, you may be able to vote and have it not count. We may have become the world's biggest and most advanced constitutional banana republic.

Even though those of us who are dual citizens can vote in elections in two countries, the US expat votes have been known to disappear from time to time. I had to pay to FedEx mine last time because my ballot was not sent in time even tho I requested it plenty early.
Ya'll think we have a hard choice in the States, Turkey has about 10 different parties to try and figure out.

That is really interesting about the dual voting thing. I had never heard of that before so it's interesting to learn new stuff like that...

Ceashel,

Point taken...perhaps I'm getting too serious which is contraindicated in Arlo land........time to listen to some more Arlo and reset my compass ! Thanks !
Though I do need to vent my frustration somewhere to people of like minds or else I'll blow a 50 amp fuse. You can't always get what you want......especially concerning politicians,

Oh, we all rant now and then. No rules (or not many) is good rules.

I guess that's why we keep coming back !

I think tonight I will listen to When The ship Comes In and think about " the words that were used to get the ship confused will not be understood when they are spoken" and ponder the ultimate triumph of truth over fiction. :D

Another of the many reasons Richardson should be considered a serious candidate, eh, Sparky?:

SANTA FE (AP) - Nearly three decades after medical marijuana first was approved in New Mexico, Gov. Bill Richardson on Monday signed a law authorizing the state Department of Health to give the drug to some seriously ill patients.

The second-term governor is seeking the 2008 Democratic nomination, and Drug Policy Alliance New Mexico said he is the first presidential candidate to sign medical marijuana into law.

Richardson said the new law provides "a humane option for New Mexicans living with cancer, HIV and other serious medical conditions."

New Mexico became the 12th state to legalize the use of marijuana for medical reasons.

Wow.................Now we have a candidate ! (though this act may unfortunately make him unelectable......unless the rainbow roaches come out of the wood work). i don't know what the reds find so threatening about cannabis-hemp-etc., must be all the whiskey and tobacco has messed their minds up....or hempa phobia......projecting the secret desire to get you know what.

He's got my vote. His act says alot about his relationship to reality and the truth and has guts,, especially to do it now.

Richardson for president ! Remember Bill Weld ?.....similar though not as bold acts by the Dead HEad republican cast him to the abyss.

I will send 420 dollars to his campaign.
