A lot of attention will be given to this largely symbolic day, and the truth is that what we do every day after it will be just as important -- if not more. But our accomplishments in this time have been remarkable, and they're having real effects on people and communities throughout the country.

With the country in crisis, the President took office and acted quickly to restore confidence and stability to our economy. But just as important were the steps we've taken toward building a new foundation for our prosperity, so that we never go back to the system that led us to crisis in the first place.

In just one hundred days, we've made crucial investments to create jobs and improve education, energy, and health care. All of this is a down payment for a new economic vision -- one where skilled workers fuel our economy rather than debt and speculation; one where American leadership on clean energy fuels 21st century innovation; and one where families and businesses are no longer weighed down by crushing health care costs.

I dunno. I'm looking at how much he has done during the first 100 days. My first vote was for Carter and that's kinda where I started paying attention. It seems to me that he has done more in the 100 days than anybody I've ever voted for or against since I started voting...

yup, Goofus.... you put it well...

watching his 100 day press conference it occurred to me that there is something in his nature that would allow him to do anything well... his strong belief in whatever is right prevailing while being so inclusive of many beliefs on different issues that it aggravates alot of folks a least a little....his willingness to take full responsibility for what he does whatever the consequences...his refusal to indulge in drama or fear to manipulate.... among other qualities....

no, I don't think he's perfect and certainly I always hope for quicker solutions.... yet have no doubts that solutions are being sought and that is so different than what we have been through....

for me, it's as though we emerged from a very dark cave....

Yes KJ, I totally agree. His presence and thoughtful intelligent articulation are soothing and comforting to me. America has been in the dark ages for a long time, and I feel a renaissance gaining momentum.

I think his first 100 days was amazing! He was handed a real mess and he seems to be able to juggle it all with grace and style. I can't wait for the health care battle and I can't wait to get health care! Lets hope everyone knows we need a full system overhaul.

The U.S. is the only "civilized, 1st world" country that does not provide health care for all of its citizens......it's shameful and inexusable.

When I see him on TV it's still like a dream come true. The long wait was worth it eh!

He still has quite a mess and there are plenty of those who created much of the mess still hanging in the gallery throwing popcorn and heckling. All those years of fighting terrorism and (how do you say this) that entire region remains a bit unstable. I saw Cheney / Bush mentioned as a serious possibility in 2012? I guess this entire region has some lingering stablity issues as well? In his press conference the Obama mantra still sounds fresh and reassuring and I like his style!

How does that mantra go?

It is tough times but lets not freak out and discard our core values!

Didn't know Bush could run again. I thought after 2 terms they couldn't run again. Oh well if he is the one in the running on the Republican side, then he'll get my vote again...

If he's the only conservative running then I have no choice. They will have forced me into it. Hopefully Huckabee will try again. I liked him.

The Bush is named Jeb. And hopefully, I will never hear Cheney, Bush or Huckabee ever mentioned seriously for anything! I am uncertain of a future now and those three top the list of Americans who can complete the Gotterdamerung!

Didn't realize that was Jeb. Hey sure all want to run for Prez don't they. What impressed me about Huckabee is I read where he is diabetic like I am and he said he's fight for the rights of diabetics if elected. Plus he shares some of the same values as me. Oh well, you guys got Arlen Specter to come to your side...

Huh??? Diabetic rights? What's that all about? I never knew that diabetics didn't have rights. My mother's ENTIRE family was diabetic... until my generation (well, I do have a few cousins who are)... I didn't know that my own kin didn't have "rights."
