Cea, I grew up in Mexico, and my "hometown" down there was Jalapa, the capital of the state of Veracruz. You know: the place that gave jalapeno peppers their name.
I even claimed to be a jalapena myself, when I lived there. As in:
"You soy como el chile verde, Llorona: Picante, pero sabroso ..."

(For those two or three readers who might not be multilingual, that's from a Latino folk song called "La Llorona." In English the name might be translated to "The Weeper," and the words mean something like: "I'm like green chiles, Llorona: hot, but delicious.")

I've never heard of tamales .. I'll try to get them somewhere.. Bumper, that's funny, Frankfurt isn't very far from where I live (ok about 3 hours) Yes all in all I like Christmas too although it's becoming more and more "consumerism" (Such a word probably doesn't exist I mean you just think about buying presents all the time and tend to forget the actual meaning of x-mas) But anyway it's great!

Ours is over. We socialized with family and..relatives - there can be a difference - for three days. It was good. We managed a decent Christmas surrounded by various disasters, some small, some very big. We want "I survived Christmas 2001" t-shirts.

Yes, fan. I'm bi-lingual in English and Spanish, and used to be fluent in French as well, although it's been years since I've had any practice in it.

I'd say something about my Christmas, except of course, there's nothing to tell. Same as it is every year.
I did not get a lump of coal though, either.

Pamramadama: my neighbor from upstairs came down last night and inhaled all the cookies you sent me -- so I guess that means they were good. Wish I'd gotten some, but there we have it. At least I got to eat one -- something yummy made with molasses. (Thankfully, the X-mouse isn't edible, or he'd have eaten that too, no doubt.)
And I do have some chicken and vegetables in the freezer for dinner later, which makes it a whole lot better than the Christmasses when there's no food in the house.

Christmas Eve was going to eat dinner at my folks house, going to the church candelite service, going to Mikes brothers & then coming back to my folks house to spend the nite. Christmas day was spent at my folks house & having dinner there, then going to Mikes cousins hosue only to find out they weren't home, then going to visit Mikes other brother & his wife & then viewing Christmas lights & now home & dead tired...

me? I watched A Christmas story for 24 hours on TNT yesterday... I do SO love when the little kid gets his tongue stuck on the metal pole... must have been a blunderite for sure!

The dad in that movie reminds me of an exact combination of my father (step) and my maternal grandfather. Hilarious! I'm so glad they show that movie every year on TNT.
I had a nice xmas, we opened presents in the morning, ate a nice huge warm dinner made by my mom, got nice, not-needing-an-exchange gifts, and pigged out on dessert by the fire while the glow of tv christmas movies took us away from all the sadness and sorrow of this year for a short time. Today we're celebrating Kwanzaa, and New Year's Eve is on it's way...Hope you all had a nice one, or at least, got through it somewhat intact =) No triple dog daring for 2002!
