i didn't really pay all that much attention to it but last year's superbowl...there was a thread here somewhere and there was a lot of excitement of one kind and another and so i jump in and larry gets all, "you can't just say 'go team!' you have to choose one!" and i am like all, "whatever, whatever...i can do what i want!" and so like i wind up rooting for the giants...it was the giants and the patriots...and i actually got invited to watch the game on tv somewhere but it turned out i didn't feel well and had to stay home but i had it on tv and slept through a lot of it but woke up when it was getting close to the end of the game and it was kind of harrowing as i recall, but it was kind of fun...but i like rooting for the ravens!

Agnes, if I met someone who said they 'never experienced it' I would probably say "Well, you didn't miss much if you didn't. Just a game, and that's how it should stay. But I will say this, a form of play competition sure beats real competition between people out in the world.

i do at least now understand the question, "agnes, are you qualified to root for the steelers?" (???)...it became clear enough after reading both psb's and your stories! (yikes!) gerry, you were certainly no indication of this!
anyway...when i read your stories about the steelers fans saloon incident and the food line thing and all...right away made me think of a lite version of something i once read in an amusingly written article about the ancient celts!?

Yeah, I just happened to be at the right places at the right times. Those things both happened about 20 years ago when both the Steelers and the Pirates played at Three Rivers Stadium. We used to attend Pirates games(not too often) for a $1 and sit way at the top in what some called Peanut Heaven. Every so often Willie Stargell would send one of those balls above the outfield to the upper deck. Not too many can do that. I read a story about Babe Ruth, at the age of about 13 or 14, hitting the ball 400 feet at the site or very near, what is now Camden Yards. Anyway, what was the Ancient Celt article about? Did it have anything to do with sports or games? How did it relate to those stories I told?

i read the celts would as soon fight eachother as anyone else and something about how they would paint themselves blue and run screaming naked and blue into battle, you know, to kind of freak out the other people...it is just what it made me think of!?
