I think your warning about being cool
between now and the elections is valid.

I'd like to say that I try really, really hard to avoid sarcasm
(which is harder than it was to stop smoking!)
and I also try to not be manipulative.
If I ask a question I'm genuinely interested in the answer.

I am aware that I tend to rant.
I honestly don't know if that's a virtue or a flaw
But I try to avoid assumptions.

yep best to keep a low profile in SOME areas. If we took to the streets now all focus would be on extreme radicals who cause trouble or those who are PLACED there to cause trouble.

There are many ways of persuasion and I believe the people who oppose GW have failed to take full advantage of his incompetence and stupidity! Now, I can recall a time when a decent man was President, wh o actually proposed good long term plans under bad circumstance back in the late seventies and that man still carries the brand of malaise.

The new Republican ticket seems like the current White House tenant. Neither McCain nor Palin appear to have any significant doubts about President Bush's disastrous policies. Palin's gubernatorial tenure in Alaska is personified by massive firings when she took office. She does not tolerate dissent and shuns the media.

It seems clear to me that we would have another imperial presidency if McCain and Palin win the hearts and minds of the American people in the November balloting. Bob Woodward of The Washington Post has been privy to the workings of the Bush White House and has written four books to prove it. In his latest Book, "The War Within," Woodward depicts Bush as a "man of few doubts" who is "still following his gut, convinced that the path he has chosen is right."

Bush, who has switched from using the word "win" in speaking of Iraq to "succeed," has the gung ho McCain-Palin team behind him. The question is, why? Woodward also wrote that Bush was intolerant of confrontations and in-depth debate. He said Bush maintained an "odd detachment" in the management of the war in Iraq "and too often failed to lead."

Bush has never explained why he invaded Iraq -- a country that had no doomsday weapons and did us no harm. It's doubtful that McCain or Palin could explain Bush's mindless mission in the Middle East if they gained the White House.

Shas--absolutely, we're good. I just get so nervous about something going wrong between now and Nov. 4; or something not going right enough. You're doing fine here; there aren't many rules, but we do try to show respect for each other most of the time, and you've never done otherwise. I think we are probably more successful at that than most online communities.

Our resident political expert has been mostly absent from the boards for personal reasons in the past few years, so we just Blunder along and try to do our best in her absence. We miss her sorely; her sharp mind is only one of the many things we miss about Pat.

I thought everybody was aware of the fact that Bush was led into this war!

You see Federal debt and even economic chaos means nothing now that Bush has transferred billions of dollars from the tax payer into the hands of his buddies...his right wing buddies...many now relocated in Dubai...loads of America's wealth transferred into the hands of men with questionable character and now available for use with little scrutiny...Oh, this makes the world of David Ferrie the minor leagues of intrigue! yeah like Shel I'm nervous too. Tho I'm starting to feel a little more confident this past week. Hopefully the media will start concentrating more on the Prez candidate than the VP! And it seems many residents in Alaska are far from being behind their Gov.!

Maybe we're going to do it this time! The uneasiness still haunts me tho.

Just kidding, now we all know that all that money was accounted for, every penny! Hey, who is that dude to the left? Hey, who is that sneeking out in your backwoods?
