So, our wise President has a plan to combat forest fires:

CUT DOWN THE FORESTS.

Well isn't that special.....he is a piece of work.

See George, fire is a natural part of the forest's renewal. If it wasn't for your rich asshole friends building more and more of their castles in the middle of what should be off-limits wilderness, we wouldn't have to be fighting 100,000 different fires, an increasing number of which are being started by contract firefighters looking for work.

But no, for George, this is yet another opportunity to increase logging to enrich his donors.

Mother nature operates fine without our "management." But since we fuck things up so well, I guess we feel the need to try to fix other things. But when the motive becomes profit, as is always the case with these folks, look out.

Tomorrow's headline:
BUSH declares Smoky the Bear unfit!

War on forests! Trees get in the way and you can't see beyond them! If you see a tree in your neighborhood, notify the "proper" authorities so they can cut it down and restore your Govt-given right to unobstructed vision! Just say NO to trees!

This does not apply to stupid white men, but it sure makes my blood hot, The Travel Channel broadcast a show that I had looked forward to for a long time, THE GRAND CANYON, well anyway they accused a friend of mine of murder and without any proof what so ever. The story had to do with Betty and Glen Hyde, the Newly weds who went down the canyon by boat in Nov. 1928, These young folks disappeared and Emory Kolb went looking to resue them, Mr Kolb by the way was a friend of mine and I worked for him for about three years, he died about 1974.
The Travel Channel clearly stated that Emory and Bessie had a fling and Emory killed Glen so he could run away with Betty.

The facts clearly show that Emory was at home with his wife and child, and that the Hyde boat was many miles downstream from the rim of the canyon where Emory lived and where he lived long after the Hyde Party disappeared.

This is the 2nd time since his death that Mr Kolb has been accused of Murder, the same man who in life never was charged with any crime ever.

anyway I wanted to sound off and I think you for hearing me out.

I thought it was Betty who did the killing?

We don't want to see an innocent man have his name smeared of course, but even if they can prove that he was guilty, there ain't no way they can give him a death sentence now, since he died in 1974. They can't even do that in Texas.(don't tell Dubya, cos he might try) And correct me if I'm wrong, but according to stuff that you wrote on another thread Nate, isn't Betty a sheep??

I have been talking vua e-mail with Brad Dinsmore, who wrote the book SUNK WITHOUT A TRACE, regarding the topic, he too appears on the show and he is rather upset that the show so misrepresented what he had said.

There is one part of the show that says Betty did the killing, the confessions in 1971 of the elderly woman on the river raft, however Bill Sims the river guide said Mr Kolb had done the killing.

Much of this is based one the police report regarding the human bones found in Mr Kolb's boat stored in his garage after his death. Mr Kolb's death not that of the bones. Mr Kolb had collected them years before and was saving them for a movie which he never made.

The Police however say that the bones belong to someone about 18 to 20 years old killed within a couple of years of Mr Kolb's death.

These bones could not be Glen Hyde, but whose are they and how did they get into the boat?

What happened to the bones Mr Kolb had of the unkown person which predated 1910?

What really did happen to Glen and Betty?
Would newly weds kill one another? Come to think of it maybe they would, a long long camping trip with out any toilets or baths not even a seven eleven.....

Mr Kolb was a very kinf and gentle man, he looked his wife and child and the Canyon, it was this shared love that made us friends.
Edith, his child was an old drunk when I met her and she had little regard for this hippie, but Mr Kolb stuck up for me.

Anyway, I just think a group such as the Travel Channel should do more research before defaming a pioneer who stuck for himself in the face of the NPS and the Fred Harvey Company/ Santa Fe Rail Road.

When William Safire speaks out on something like this you have to know it's bad. Don't know what to say, though, because at the moment the country seems either willing to go along or not at all sure what to do about it.

Thanks for posting that link...I read the column in the paper yesterday, and was going to post it, and I'm glad to see you got it up there earlier than I could!

This is really scary stuff... not that I'm doing much of anything the government would not be happy with... except protesting the possible war in conjunction with faculty at the University at Albany... but they DON'T need to know everything that I do!
