Yeah I know it's summertime, and who in they're right mind would wanna disscuss a good read?? I brought this thread over from RSR website, as I felt this forum was better suited... Altho, we can use the Rising Sun Records Book Club, as a psuedonym.. .. Hence the name....

* some people e-mailed me, about doing "Kurt Vonneguts" Man Without a Country.. If your still interested, far out. You could post to that effect. & if this is a pain in your ass, the book is quite simple, and one could just leave post, about, likes or disslikes of said book... ( e.p favorite chapter, ect)

** I do believe it would be more fun in Blunderchat. If I remember from before, it used to be stressed, chat was a forum, for Friday nite cruisers. But it was open anytime. And we used to get alot of respect, from other chatters, bla bla bla, that actually realized we were doing a simple type of book club thing... It was kewl...

A Fans Notes was a book, I tried to do, but no-body liked it... Here's what Vonnegut had to say about Exley.... Exley lived down the road a piece from me, and was great at, signing books in bars... Loved young college people, and was just a hoot, to be around... I was fortunate to meet the man, and have him sign my book. It's one of my prized possesions. As Exley reminds me of myself... ( this took yrs. to figue out ) altho I'm not into Foot-ball, and I'm not a semi-famous Author.... The people of Watertown NY, still talk about the man, with great passion.... And I'm sure, he is still in conversation, other than H2O town... He became in life, what he had dreamed he had wanted. But I don't think, he ever had the time, to realize it??? ( we may never know )

* I'll be reading his bio... didn't learn of this book untill today... So maybe I can answer that very question..... ( If you read this book, buy a good dictionary )


msfitz: Brittian, made a movie of Exleys 'A Fans Notes' . Great luck finding it. I imagine, it's available, somewhere in space. I've never seen the movie, but did see the trailer of said. It was played at his furneral.

I'm afraid if I see the movie, I will be dissapointed. It would be like Reading Woody Gurhrie's 'Bound for Glory' then watching David Carridine, sorta stain the damn thing....

I actually looked for the book when I was in the Southeast to no avail. Maybe I should go to Powell's. It's only 10 minutes from where I live...

I think I we should consider Exley's biography a manditory read. After all the title is called, misfit ( the strange life of Frederick Exley )

I hear Jonathon Yardley, is as inimatatable as Exley himself... Altho I'll probley buy it from Amazon, as they have used copys, for next to nothing... I would recommend checking Amazon for 'A Fans Notes' as that seems to be the case there also... I always seem to forget, that the book was written in 1968, and the MTV generation, isn't interested, in what 'used to be'....Altho I would supose they'd surprize themselves.....Anyone that can make Frank Gifford a man of interest, has my vote!!! Of course Exleys anologys of the famous football player, and his father seem relentless to him....

so...did i miss a meeting already!? i'm still reading vonnegut's (i love it!)

but even if i don't keep up, i'll serve "anything you want..." how about some clam dip??
