I was surprized to see my hometown make the news in positive way. ntm: you don't know what you have untill someone brings it to your attention.

St. Lawrence County, in New York State, was listed the #6th BEST county to live in, in the total United States..... At first hearing it, I thought it ranked for the state. Just NY. But it ranked #6, for a County as the most desireable to live, in the Whole of U.S.A.

I would say 'Washington County' Mass. among my favorite to visit... & was curious if it made the top 10.... ( reasearch is calling )

Yes, St. Law. County is quite unique. Land mass it's larger than the state of Rhode Island. St. Law. County has one city... Ogdensburg...

It was funny watching the news, as St. Law. County doesn't have a T.V. station... What we call the 'local' news, is filmed outta Watertown N.Y. in Jefferson Co... (nice to rate over H20 town )

** linear note: Todd Goodman spent 2 yrs. in Jefferson County when he was in the Army at Fort Drum's 5th Mountain Division... Just 45 minutes from me... In the 70's..... what a small world. Aye?


***Of course I see things, and feel it's changed and not for the better. When I first started driving, some 34 yrs. ago, there were far less houses, more beaches, the water wasn't as poluted...... Lots of over-foresting, ect..... I find it sad, to try and relive most of my old haunts, as things are never the same.... of course, some things don't change... And a few change for the better I suppose.....

Yes, back in the 70's St. Lawrence County in my opinion was much more diverse than say the Adarondack Mnts...

rb, I spent an idyllic week at a friend's "cabin" on the river in St. Lawrence County 35 years ago. What a special place! But beware; being on such lists may mean more people will move there. It has almost (not quite) ruined Austin.
