In the news, of course, you'll see a paragraph or two purported to be Cindy Sheehan's 'retirement letter.' From what she said today to Randi Rhodes on AirAmerica, the craven Democratic capitulation last week was the breaking straw. To see the real, entire letter, go here:

It is to cry. And then do more.

I completely understand why she is doing it. She was here a year ago. I felt so sorry for her. She looked so thin and exhausted I just wanted to scoop her up and bring her home for a good feed and rest. Just before she spoke someone gave her a plate of something with tinfoil over it. She just picked at it and only ate half. Her talk was wonderful then she asked for questions, but would only take 8 as she was so tired. She specifically asked for only questions pertaining to what she had spoken about (she must of guessed at what might be coming) and that if people didn't want to stick to the agenda she may as well head back to the hotel to sleep. Someone also asked that the questions be brief.

I went first and told her I was an AmerAussie and not proud of either country and felt overwelmed at what to do. I said I was not comfortable up on a stage, and prefered to talk to people one on one,so she told me to think of it like eating an elephant one spoonfull at a time. That was great advice.

But then quite a few of the other questioners started veering off and rambling on about their own agendas (I won't describe them or what they talked about but they were obviously using the time to spruk about their causes some of which are known worldwide).
I was really pissed off (and embarrassed) and so were others in the audience. Here we had this courageous women who had made time to come to our town (Brisbane) and they were insulting her by wasting her time (and our special time with her).

I gave her a big hug and thanked her..............and of course Cindy being Cindy, she gave me just as big a hug back and later as I was going out the door she smiled at me and said " Bye Hon"

So if this kind of stuff has been happening to her all the time I think she deserves to retire and lead a quiet life, and get her MoJo back.

pretty much the whole hour of Democracy Now news hour was an interview with Cindy... what an amazing woman.... what she has done ... it will take alot of us to make up for her... but she's looking for new approaches while she rests.... and.... maybe she'll find something...
