It looks like Gov. Spitzer will have to resign because yet another intelligent, otherwise responsible and powerful politician couldnt keep their pants on. It was just a year ago that the NJ Gov. was forced to break the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and faded into alimony and "private life".

Somewhere down the list, sharing the headlines tonight are: Pharmaceuticals - of "acceptable" levels - in our drinking water...and three lawyers who couldnt figure out how to get an innocent man imprisoned for 15 years, out of prison, until their client (who confesed to them 14 years ago) was dead...

If Spitzer broke the law then he's a jerk for doing it. And Gawd knows his lack of self control should be admonished. But is it me - but does what any of them do in the sack seem unimportant in comparison to our drinking water and freedom?

I say more power to Mr. Spitzer.

How many of the other people in our government are actually paying the people they are screwing?

I just hope he used his own money.

Well, he's human like the rest of us, and we all make mistakes... but most of us don't use such colossally bad judgement...or, like Spitzer...think people are so blind and stupid that his actions won't be noticed. It takes a certain kind of arrogance to assume one is impervious to attention when behaving so badly. I feel sorry for his kids and wife.

KJ - Your lips to Gods ears!! Isnt that the truth?

Sue - Oh yes - his poor daughters - probably not that much younger than his liaisons. (who are also someone's daughters).

I'm thoroughly disappointed. I THOUGHT Spitzer was a different kind of politician - only to find that he is just as hypocritical as can be.

My thoughts go out to his wife and his three daughters - may they come through their family crisis and become stronger for it.

Jim Shea who writes for The Hartford Courant has a column on the issue in today's paper. A humorous look at an unfortunate situation.

Wow.

So by not feeling sorry for them, are you saying the wife and daughters somehow deserve the shame and humiliation brought on them by the acts of their father?

And now that they know, as you said, "what a lousy peice of trash he is"...do you think they should stop loving him?

I don't know how they handle their finances, and it's certainly none of my business...but at any given moment, I know pretty much what we've spent and what's in the bank... most of us know that about our own finances. I think I would have noticed that kind of money melting out of the bank account with no good explanation. It woulda made me verrrry curious about what he was doing with the cash. And if it was from a government account...well, he'll face the music for that.

Are You Saying ? Am I saying something that
is not in the post ?
No
I wasn't tryin' to be Bob Dylan with some
secret meaning
If I am saying that they deserve anything
it is the truth - something he probably didn't
want them or anyone else to know (Spitzer not Dylan)
Maybe some people believe they would be
better off living a lie in their governer palace
Alot of people do want to live a lie - thats for
sure
I just ain't wantin' to be one of them
Not that we have much choice in this Political
World of lies and liars

I don't care who they Love or who the Bush Twins love
It'd be nice if everyone loved everyone, but that ain't
gonna happen in this life time
Jesus said love your enemies, but he still knocked
the swines tables over
I am for letting everone love who they want
even the ones who have to buy it

"Spitzer was mercilessly trashing other peoples lives to further his advancement in the Democratic party. And Democrats were praising him for it. He was engaging in the very same behavior that he was prosecuting others for. The hypocrisy level here is just ........"

I ain't a Republican or Democrat so it doesn't matter to me if
a Political Pig from either Party goes down in his own slime
both parties can replace them really quickly with... even worst
slime balls
Anyway The Spitzers just ain't worth any more of my time or tears
there are alot worst Pigs out there causing death and pain that
will last a life time for many

Sue - I agree that normal families know (generally speaking) of one anothers finances. But I used to live with a very wealthy man - (no where near the multi-millions Spitzer and his family have.) But he made a full time job of leaving no paper trails, and hiding all his money & spending practices. It wasn't a normal (or happy) relationship, and I can only think that the Spitzers have a multi-million times more abnormal (to the way we think of normal) life. I can see where $84K could come or go pretty quietly with their resources.

Clinton gets impeached for a BJ and Bush steals two elections and is driving the country and world into the ground and our "good ol' boy" mentality politicos just let him keep screwing things up. What's wrong with that picture? If you want hypocrisy how about trying to keep brain dead people "alive" and wanting all abortions outlawed because of the "sanctity of life" while killing tens of thousand of theirs, thousands of ours and probably hundreds of thousands of anyone who has been unfortunate enough get caught in the middle? But no, Spitzer gets the headlines for "pay per lay" as the body count goes higher and higher! I don't get it!?!

What Zap said, with a nod to both him and Reg for the reality check. It' may not fit with our moral code, but it's not killing people, either.
