Neil Young Says President Bush Is An Idiot Who Is Driving The Country Into Insanity

Neil Young had some harsh words for President George Bush and his tenure as a wartime president.
Young spoke about the criticism that the recent Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young documentary CSNY - Deja Vu has received, telling Uncut, "We're not telling the world what to do... It's so funny what people say about us... We're not trying to control the world. All we're saying is,'Hey this f***ing president is killing us. This f***er is driving the country into insanity. This f***er is responsible for America being the most hated country in the world right now. That's what we're saying. All I'm saying is: 'This is what I think about this idiot. What do you think?'"

Young directed the politically-charged film which documents CSNY's 2006 Freedom Of Speech tour which featured material from Young's then-recent album Living With War. Young went on to explain that although he needs to air his opinion on the state of American affairs, he's not under any delusions that change will be quick in coming: "It's a different world than it was in the 1960s. I have more experience. I am not under any misconceptions that my next record is going to change the world. I'm a realist. So I just say what I feel, and that's where the Living With War record came from... I'm still standing. I'm strong. I know my strengths, what I can and what I can't do. I just go forward."

Well, sure, he's a pawn. He's the talking head for them--the tip of that dirty iceberg--he's the icon representing them, for most people. The thing he represents is so huge and so powerful, it's scary to contemplate. You don't want to actually look upon the face of god, or the face of the devil; it will melt your face. So you look at the icon or pawn. If we really get them out of there come January 20, I for one will be much relieved.

Oh, but they are still there!

I know. They will always be there in my lifetime. I don't really think the GP has the brains and balls to do anything about it, if that were even still possible. But I have to do what I can do, even if it's not enough. It's the struggle, not the end, that matters, or so they say.

We recently spent a week and a half vacationing in Finland. While folks were nice to us, I don't believe that America, as a world power, is in very good favor with the rest of the planet. The few people who discussed American politics with me all said the same thing. Bush is the worst president the USA has ever had and the worst American president the world has ever had to endure. All expressed astonishment that he was elected (their word, not mine) for two terms. When I said that he was actually appointed for the first term and had not received the majority of the popular vote either time, they were completely bewildered. "How did the American people allow this to happen?" was the question on their mind. It should be on all of our minds as well. How did we let it happen?

I met a guy from Austria, who was touring Scandinavia with his wife on a Harley of all things, who said that he had worked in Iraq, pre-invasion. No, things weren't perfect there, he said. Yes, there was a lot of government control over everything. But he said that he thought that people were, for the most part, doing okay and relatively happy. He said there were no religious or secular overtones going on that he noticed. He admitted that maybe there were things he didn't see percolating under the surface or that were kept from him, being a foreigner but the difference between what he saw first hand before the war and what is now, with all of the death and destruction, are as day and night. But he was there. He saw. Now they have this pit of death, sorrow and ruin that is and will be the legacy of the G. W. Bush administration forever and a scar on our country as well.

No one I spoke with wants to see McCain (McSame) elected. They all hope that Obama wins. There is the hope for the future, some said. The man from Austria said, "Perhaps, with Obama's election, America can redeem itself in the eyes of the world." Perhaps. But I don't think it will be all that easy and I think it will take some time.

When I was in Germany 3 years ago that is the same thing I experienced. Those who knew me and knew I felt as they did were kind and sympathetic towards me. New people I met were cautious but soon found out I did not subscribe to bushco and then I was treated very kindly. They do not like him over there.

I've told our friend over there that if this election doesn't go the way this country needs it to go, he may just have some permanent house guests.

Mike was threatening to go to the Bahamas or Mexico if Obama got in there. I told him I'm not moving to somewhere else just cuz we have a prez we don't like. LOL...

yep, lots of people here have been shakin' their heads for the last eight years too. And even more in the last four. That's why our Govt finally changed last Nov. So everyone I talk to, even the elderly people I work with, are hoping Obama wins. The doubters have finally seen the light and realized alot of us were right about all the lies. It was easy to ingnore being called some nasty names back in '03 during the anti Iraq war protests because we knew the truth.

Yes, but doesn't it get tiresome after awhile ... being right and yet always being in the minority, until years later when suddenly everyone sees what you saw at the time.
