Okay, I've had it. The country is screwed, the planet is screwed and people are f***ing stupid. I was just watching the news and some moron in Branford, CT is not letting his kid go to school when Obama addresses school children next Tuesday. His reasoning is that Obama plans to use it to push his socialist agendas into the impressionable minds of school children. "This is a Marxist, North Korean tactic of indoctrination," and he's not going to allow his child to be a part of it! I'm tired of being politically correct and being polite. These people are idiots!

I guess it was better when America was being attacked on 9/11 and Dubya was reading a book to school children, and didn't seem to give a rat's ass?

My understanding of the Obama school speech is that it will be to impress upon kids the value of education. It's a shame this kids dad didn't seem to get one.

James Carville said it, "There's a lot of stupid people in this country."

One wishes otherwise but objectively thus Randily, wishing won't make it so.

The right-wingers are attacking everything that Obama tries to do on the basis of "creeping Socialism." I am old enough to remember McCarthyism, and it has once again reared its ugly head. Down here in Marion County, FL, the public schools administrator has left it up to each individual school principal whether to show the talk live or not, and has allowed parents to "excuse" their children from watching it with a written "note."

I thought we were all one country with one president. Bush had opponents, but nothing like the poison that I hear from people down here every day. WTF??? I hate to say it's racism, but I get the distinct feeling that people are afraid that if too many minority children get to actually see and hear a non-white leader talking to them, it might give them the idea to someday become a non-white leader.

If I were a school principal, I'd make every child who was "excused" write an essay on why it's important that they work hard, study, and stay in school.

No...we have Republicans and Democrats, who are so busy looking out for their party's interests and their own agendas, they've forgotten (or don't care) about what's actually good for America and We the People. There's a reason Congress can't get together to pass anything...it all comes down to party lines and people's re-elections. Both sides are equally to blame here.

I obviously don't know everything about all elected officials, but by observing their behavior, I believe that "serving the people" is not up toward the top of their list of priorities. #1 is about getting re-elected. #2 is about serving those who got them elected, especially with $$$......so they can get more $$$, so they can get re-elected..... I'm sure there are dedicated elected officials who take their oath seriously......I know Ted Kennedy was one of them, and I believe Obama is another......

Excuse the following rant. It must have been the day of the dopey yesterday. I was setting up for my usual Friday night gig and telling the owner's wife (who is also the bartender) about the guy not sending his kid to school Tuesday because of Obama's "socialist agenda" when this well dressed guy at the bar just jumps into the conversation.

"I wouldn't either. I don't trust that guy at all," he says. "My business has gone to hell since he took office. The Democrats always screw up the economy!"

I reminded him that the economy fell in the crapper when Bush was in office. He said that it was Obama's fault that it hasn't gotten better and Obama's making it worse by printing more money and bailing out companies. I reminded him that Bush started the bailouts. He said that Clinton screwed up the economy. I reminded him that Reagan was in office during the last big recession.

"My business was great under Reagan." I said that all that "trickled down" was crap. The last time I was laid off (before this time) was when Reagan was in office. The music store that I'd worked in for 17 years went under with a lot of other businesses. He said that I should start watching the news. I said I do. He said not left wing media. I said the Hartford Courant is owned by Rupert Murdock. He said I need to watch a more balanced news like Fox. We both agreed on one thing .... Glenn Beck is nuts. He said Bill O'Rielly only states facts. I said he incites violence. He said he has great health care. I hadn't realized it at the time but he later said he was sixty-five years old. Hmmm .... (socialist) Medicare! Then he said something about war being a good thing for the economy and that the draft should be reinstated and that if we had more wars we'd all be working. I started playing. He finished his drink, got into his Porsche and drove away. I hope the Mayans were right.

(Like that capital "H" I put on "His"? I think it gives it a more Biblical ambiance, don't you?)
